I saw a guy shooting one of these at the range the other day, and I don't know what it is. Does anybody? It's a semi-auto with a box magazine.

That is an Heckler & Koch SLR-7(.223) or 8(.308). Good rifles but heavy with aukward saftys. They have not been imported since I believe the Seventies.

yes it is an h&k slr. they have become almost as pricey as the 91's and 93's
hunting rifle from h&k which IIRC does accept the 20rd mags as well.
nice shooters. one of my late friends had the complete h&k collection of rilfes both huntinh as well as military style. he did like the slr rifles, yet said for the money (back 10 or so years)that there were better ones on the market in that price range.
 
By the magazine, I'd say it was a HK SL-6 (.223). Unfortunately, they do not accept HK-93 mags nor does the SL-7 accept HK-91 mags (the latch system is totally different).

They're priced high if you go to a rapist dealer. When I sold my SL-6, a dealer wanted to pay me $200 for mine because as he said, "there's really no market for them." Thanks but no thanks. Two months later, he had a SL-6 on his rack for $1200. Apparently screwing faithful customers was just par for the course.

Keep your eyes open for a private party sale and you could probably get one for around $500 (that's about what I paid at a decent dealer).
