What prices on 3-inch S&W 625?

I've followed with interest the recent reports about revolver prices being down. They aren't here in NC.

Has anybody recently seen a 3-inch S&W Model 625? What was the price? I know S&W doesn't catalog that barrel length in the 625 any more, so prices are likely to be a bit inflated. But a local gun store has a couple of them, both marked at $639, which seems _way_ out of line to me. I want one, but not at that price, unless for some reason they've become highly desirable collector's items and I just didn't hear about it.

It's been sold, but about a month ago a dealer here in Iowa was selling a slightly used 3" 625 for $425.

I was able to buy a LNIB 5" a few weeks ago for $450. I thought I paid too much, but you folks in NY are really gettin' hit hard.

Good Luck...

Joe

In Gun List Bob Swanson, located in Arizona, has them listed for $575 and $550 in .45 LC and .45 ACP respectively. I have never delt with Swanson so cannot endorce him but do know that lately his prices on the 3" Smiths have been the best I've found. You can contact him at

I've got a 4 inch 625 marked .45cal Model of 1989 and it is a jewel. Its my favorite revolver. If you don't have a 625, get one you're gonna love it...7th :)

As a collectors item, a 3 inch 625 is fine, but for shooting I would strongly recommend the 4 inch or 5 inch versions as a much better choice.

I agree with Robert. That price is about $100 too high. A local dealer had three 3"s; 45LC, 45ACP, and 44mag. All had been on their shelf for several months so I was able to get a good deal on the 45ACP at just over $500.

Also, I opted for Spegel's coco-bolo boot grips. They are very nice. I found a nice holster from Don Hume. They make them for short barrelled N frames.

David,
I saw one at a local gun show last summer, and thought about buying it to go with my 5", but it was pretty well used if not abused. I think it was going in the range of $400 to $450

I saw a like new 5" 625 at a dealer in southern Maine the other day for $395.00. Seems about right to me. Regards,
SM

I can't speak about a 3" 625, but my local FFL said he could get me a NIB 5" 625, .45ACP for about $520 (before tax and DROS). This is souhtern Ca. prices. He is very fond of his, but I think I'll wait to find a better deal.
