What parts wear out first?

Well, the 1858 Remington has been tuned, tweaked, beburred and polished and is a fine looking, and operating, piece of equipment. I was thinking that I'd go ahead and order some spares for it to have on hand.

I'm wondering if some parts wear out faster than others and I should order two or somethings, such as trigger/bolt spring or the hand, etc...

Also, I have looked for a spare set of firing pins for the conversion cylinder but have not found them anywhere, I assume they can be replaced, yes? Anybody know where to get them? It's an R&D, I tried to go to their website and something happen to my computer, it just locked up, I tried it again and it did the same thing so they have some weird problems going on with their site.

Thanks!

One thing for sure when ordering extra parts for yer remmie .... the shipping is greater than the part , i like to keep an extra cylinder lock up bolt, a hand or 2 incase i mess one up replaceing it .. the hand requires some fitting . at least one main spring and one trigger spring and if ya order from dixiegun works they also sell a full set of extra screws for the remmies in a pack . ya might get a few extra nipples too they aren`t much . now ya need a nice wooden box to keep yer tools and spare parts in .... it never ends ..:D

LOL, yep, you're right it never does end. I was looking at boxes too.

Yep, since shipping is more than the parts I was going to go ahead and stock up, the parts aren't much. I was going to get a couple extra hands for hte exact reason you mentioned, in case I screw one up fitting it to the gun.

But I was also wondering if the parts wear out at different rates then I would get a few extras of those parts while I'm stocking up. And it would be nice if I could get them all from the same place so I don't have to pay extra shipping, that's why I was looking for conversion cylinder firing pins too, and yep, extra nipples too, all the goodies.

Thanks for input!

The hammer on my Pietta Remington was softer than it should have been, resulting in the bolt cam wearing badly before I caught it. I hardened it and that seems to have stopped the wear, but an extra hammer may not be a bad part to have around.
