What next 9mm?

I know it has been asked a million times but here is a million and one :) I am looking for a currently produced 9mm handgun, primarily for home defense and range gun with the following criteria:

1. Must be hammer fired.

2. Can reasonably be bought for 800 or less, new.

3. Has a capacity of at least 15 rounds.

I appreciate your input. Thank you.

CZ 75B/BD. You can get this for around $525 from buds, and have some cash for extra mags, VZ grips, and maybe even some Cajun Gun Works parts.

Next question?

Most CZ pistols, FNX-9, and some Sig pistols.

Did you have anything more specific in mind? Single action , DA/SA, frame material, barrel length, etc?

I was leaning a little in the DA/SA realm. I have a striker handgun and wanted to get a few more options in a hammer one.

Hands down CZ p-09 19+1 capacity, accurate, ultra reliable, great ergos. SA/DA with decocker, OR carry cocked and locked.

21+1 option for the magazines...

^ I picked up the FDE version (which is has night sights) for 539.

I now want a p-07 in 40 because I don't have a 40...and really NEED one. :p

CZ 75B, stainless or polished blue. Can't go wrong there.

Others to consider: Tanfoglio Witness Elite Match; Tanfoglio Stock I. Personally, I'd love to have another Tanfoglio Stock, but in 9mm. I have one in 10mm and it needs a 9mm companion.:D

With that budget, I would go with either the CZ 75B or the Beretta 92FS, too. Both are classic pistols, handsome, and function extremely well. You could hardly go wrong with either.

$800 gives you nearly limitless options for your criteria.

My advice is to get something well-proven and well-supported on the market. My first choice fitting your criteria is practically any variant of the Beretta 92 or M9 that fits your fancy, they're nearly all in your budget. Second choice would be the Sig P226 or P229 (I slightly prefer the 229). Third choice would be the HK P2000.

I'm still not fully sold on CZ as the stock triggers are not fantastic, but they fit the "well-proven and well-supported on the market" characteristic certainly.

In my opinion the poly CZ offerings have not been around long enough to be proven but the P-07 is definitely comfy in the hand.
