I just read the thread arguing the merits of the high dollar HK squeeze pistola. Comments were it's heavy because of the quality of metal. Well to me weight is a negative if it's my carry gun. It's great if I have to deal with recoil. It was said its built like a swiss watch NOT like a fewer part Glock or 1911, implying more parts mean quality. Maybe until it breaks & I have to work on it or clean it. NOW I'm not slamming that gun or the person, just using it to point out we all have different values, likes & opinions. I've owned about every quality name handgun but a Sig, the HK USP I had was good looking but no better quality than any of my Glocks or my Kahr,& wasn't as accurate as my cheap $330 nib CZ75b.
I find it pointless to have someone argue what's the "best" gun for someone else. The only sure 100% thing we know is a 1911 is the most perfect gun in the world because it can knock ya down with one shot! ;) Wink Wink....

Ruger beats them all in price, revolvers or autos their good guns at reasonable prices. SP-101! I should get paid from Ruger on my
statements of quality.:D

How is it that your poll omits the single most important characteristic of a carry handgun?

Reliability...it has to go BANG! when you pull that trigger; all else is minor detail.

Cost of parts, maching process combined with amount time the employee/owner spends on fitting adds to the overall cost of the firearm.

I voted None Of the Above-

cause I think design engineering, craftsmanship, and the
weapons overall track record come into play; in order to
determine pricing. All of the options listed in the poll are
secondary factor's.:D:)

The thing that makes anything worth something is what a person is willing to pay for it. This can be determined by quality, functionality, or availability. The #1 factor is demand.

Reliability and pointability. If it won't work no one will buy it. If you can not shoot it well, what is the point!

Next would be workmanship, quality of fitting and materials.

Next would be overall demand and desireability.

Finally it would be your list and a few more.

The trouble with an expensive gun is it is like fine whiskey. After you have the "good stuff" it is really hard to go back to "rock gut".

Why didn't I put reliability in the poll?

It would have been the number one choice & reliability is a given for carry............

We ALL know "size matters" :p Seriously though... For concealed carry purposes, other than reliability, comfort in the hand and pointability, size should be considered an important factor followed by weight. IMHO weight issues can be negated by a good carry rig. Unless you're opting for pocket carry, weight could be considered a non-issue. YMMV

While I voted for "size" in the above poll, you actually missed the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT feature of any gun you stake your life on, day in and day out.

Reliability.

It simply has to go BANG! every time. Without fail.
