What kind of reflex optic do you prefer?

Everyone has their own preferences, be it Trijicon, AimPoint, or Eotech, and while what is considered the best is purely subjective and up to an individuals opinion, it's nice to know what people think.

So, tell me which brand of reflex optic(s) you enjoy the most and what are your reasons.

I've yet to get one for my rifle, but handling a few rifles that did have these particular optics, I found that I liked the larger sight picture offered by the EoTech, however the Aimpoint optics looked like they'd be more durable and the over all look of it on the rifle was very appealing to me. Of course I don't think I would make dropping my rifle or go romping around in the back country a habit or anything.

I am leaning towards the Trijicon. The price is in line with the other big two, it does not need batteries is always on, can see in the dark well, and that Triangle tip is virtually sub, sub, sub, MOA.

They are battle proven and when the Tritium runs out they refill for you same cost of battiers then over 15 years.

Trijicon reflex RX06 4.2 oz. "has the Triangle reticel"

#### Crap I forgot to mention, the Trijicon unit only weights 4.2 oz. Here are the weights of the competitors: Meprolight M21 Reflex 7.019 oz EOTech M553 12.3 oz Aimpoint Comp M3 7.8 oz Trijicon 42mm Reflex RX30 8.2 oz

I prefer the EOTech myself. I find the rectangular window easier to keep both eyes open; with the round barrel of a typical Aimpoint, I find myself closing one eye, magnified-scope-style. I don't know why (other than years of hunting with a traditional scope...)

Haven't used any of the open-type reflex units...

first, let me say i'm glad you are considering a reflex sight. these are sooooooooooooooooooo(i would add more "oooo"s here if i had time)oooooo much more useful than the tube style. while i have not owned the other two, i have handled weapons with all three, and personally own an eotech and the civi version of it - the bushnell holosight. the only difference with the holosight is that it is missing the outer "armored shroud" that the eotech has. it has been just as reliable and accurate as my eotech at a much lower price point. i personally prefer the eotech (and bushnell) over the other two options. the battery lasts forever, as long as you turn it off when not using it. i always keep at least one backup pair in my foregrip or stock (depending upon the platform), and have magpul flip up buis that co-witness with eotech on every platform.

Acog with a cheap dot sight on it

Other wise a eotec, if you practice a little though you don't even have to look though your sights to put one in your enemy if they are close like within 75 meters, the best quick reaction to take the threat out is to put one near then and get your eye into the sight and finish the job

My preference is the old Russian "Kobra". I tried a Holosight a while back & found the reticule too busy for me.

I've tried the open & tube types & find I prefer the open type as for some reason I tend to close the "other" eye with a tubed sight, probably a reflex from shooting with a scope I guess. The dot types really do work MUCH better with both eyes open, so if it helps me do this it's my preference for type. With Holo type reticules this is even more important as without looking "past" the scope the holographic effect seems very diminished to me.

Why the Kobra?
Built like a tank (probably from a tank, being Russian:eek:) More practically it has a heads up position that is Identical to my 4X conventional scope so the same hold works when I swap them out. The 4 reticules are nice, particularly as the "dot over a chevron" one gives me a 100 & 200 Yd aim point (chevron tip for 100, dot for 200) & is easier & faster to acquire than a dot only IMO. It also keeps all my settings even at power off so I always come back to the same place/reticule & brightness setting that I chose, not some "factory default"

I wear glasses so the high hold is helpful to keep the sight in the field of view of the glasses as well. I know common wisdom says keep the hold low, but whoever wrote that didn't wear corrective lenses that slip down under recoil.:D
