Hey guys whats a good holster for CCW. I know it can be done a friend of mine does it every day. I carry a 1911 and I compared these 2 guns. The slides are about the same thickness. It's like splitting hairs. I have heard Don Hume makes some nice holsters. Should I go IWB or OWB?
Thanks,45automan

For IWB I always use Blade-tech's concealex model. It has the best features and characteristics that I could ever want in an IWB, the least of which is not the reasonable price either! http://www.blade-tech.com

For OWB, my P226 ALWAYS rides in a Greg Kramer Belt Scabbard. Again, all the best features I could ever want in a leather holster, however pricey. The only people that bad mouth horse hide are the holster makers that can't stand working with it because it is so stiff - one of its best features. Remember, the Navy SEALS carry their P226s in Kramer horsehide. http://www.kramerleather.com

If you want leather but can't afford the top notch stuff. Jim Murnak's FIST line ( http://www.fist-inc.com ) has some of the best options available for VERY reasonable prices. They aren't as pretty as some, and use much thicker leather than Kramer's horse hide, they are every bit as functional as the good stuff.

Hope this helps.

i carried, my sig 220 and 226, in a safariland 5181 paddle holster for about 6 years. tried a new forbus paddle about a years ago and now have one of every model they make (hoping for more models...hint hint).

lightest holster i have every worn ('bout 2ozs), more stable on the belt (almost like a belt holster), faster draw (no drag after clearing retention device), very secure built in retenteion (so good many new owners can't get their guns out...read the instructions) and cheap <$20

If you decide on IWB the YCS from M/D Enterprises is the best on the market, IMHO. For OWB carry the CQC-S from Lou Alessi is outstanding, if you prefer a pancake style the I-BAK from Milt Sparks Leather is top notch.
