What is your opinion of this .357 Smith

I have looked at this gun at a local dealership. Smith & Wesson Model 327 Although it feels like bulky flare gun it can indeed fit into your pocket.

8 round capacity. Wouldn't there be a lot of recoil considering how light the gun is and how short the barrel is? Also wouldn't you cut down on a lot of magnum energy with a 2 inch barrel?

What are some other opinions of this weapon?

Yes there is going to be considerable recoil and muzzleflash as compared to any 4"+ , steel K,L or N frame. Yes, you will loose some velocity/power as compared to a longer barrel . Yes it will fit in a jacket pocket (as long as you pick baggy , big pocketed jackets with this in mind.) No, despite the extra few rounds, I'm not spending $1150 to get a bulkier revolver having the same general weight and performance specs as a $350, all stainless, mod 60 .
It might work for some, (particularly for holster carry,) but I'm not seeing the attraction myself.

It looks good to me and I love the idea about 8 shots of .357 but I wouldn't use it for pocket carry or spend that kind of money.

If you're looking for something similar, check out the Taurus 608. It was an 8 shot and they made them in 3 inch barrels on up. Much much much cheaper, too.

Im saving up for one. this may be my first smith, this gun intriges me. it has had debuts in at least 1 or 2 movies, hence how I first noticed it. Then a nearby gun store had one on display. It looks quite compact compared to that pic and its movie debut when you see it in person. I like the Look of the large 8 shot cylinder up against the lil, 2" barrel. I have mixed emotions about scandium\ titanium revo's, but this is a very interesting peice. It also comes in 6 shot .45 acp, I recall. and a ss like finish as well.

Can't go wrong with a Smith, though I have no problem relying on my Taurus for personal defense.

Kinda wierd dimentions for carry (fat cyllender, almost no barrel). I think it looks nice, but I would love to see one with a 3 or 4 in barrel

Anything you need to shoot more than 5X's

If you want bang for your buck, think first. You want to ask yourself, if I can't stop someone at 5....what is 8 going to do? For that amount of hard-earned money, buy yourself an AR-15 (Colt, by far is my favorite).

I use the same logic with all my friends who all want these high capacity autos with 15 rounds. They are all into these movies like The Matrix with Keanu Reeves bouncing off the walls firing 200 round from his high capacity Glocks killing everything in sight. With me, you want to get the bad guy in 1 shot not 20. Which is why I prefer a revolver (they are a more simple gun and have more history behind them than Glocks and Berettas)

I've always wanted one of those old M1 Carbines from WW2 era and a few 30 round magazines. The AR 15 looks great, might cost a pretty penny, but don't they have quite a kick to them? A co worker of mine owns some kind of British assult rifle similar to teh AR 15 and, like my 30.06 bolt action, leaves my shoulder blue and a busted lung. How much power does the AR 15 have?

I've always wanted either/both of the M1's from WWII -- the carbine and the Garand. The carbine isn't great for stopping power (supposedly) but it sure is a cool weapon.

The AR-15 in .223 has very little kick. Not really noticeable at all. You can shoot one pretty much all day.

If you want to shoot 30.06 w/o so much kick, then get the Garand or an M14. Lotta fun there!

I would much prefer to give up one round (go from 8-shot to 7-shot) and have a gun that is a pure joy to shoot for hours on end. Not a lightweight to carry, but that's a small price to pay for a gun you can thoroughly enjoy shooting.

The 327 is definitely an "interesting" gun, but also definitely not one I have any desire to own or to shoot. If I must pack a lightweight, it's a 642. Or one step up from that, a 640.

Actually, I would prefer to carry a glock, with the 17 round mag, for one reason. Not to have 20 shots to get 1 BG, but to have not to have to carry any reload mags. The leftover rounds might come in handy for a multiple BG situation.
