I have 3, 44 cal BP revolvers that I believe have 7 1/2" barrels. I have two 5 1/2 and one 6 1'2" 22 cal six guns. I have two 4 3/4" uberti cattlemen and one 3/1/2" cimorron thunderer, all in 45 LC. My favorites currently are the 4 3/4" barrel length 45's. I think the 4 3/4" barrels are the perfect size for speed, pointabilty and balance in a 45. Having said that I want my next gun to be a nickel plated 5 1/2" model. What are your favorites?

4 5/8 on a Ruger, the same length as the ejector rod housing. Might be 4 3/4 on some brands. It just looks right. I don't have one in that length, sadly (and stupidly) I traded off my SS Vaquero .45 in that configuration. Now I have a Single Six 5.5", a New Vaquero .357 in 5.5", Super Blackhawk 7.5", and the Walker at 9". Oh well, I'll find another one.

I like the 7-1/2" or 8" models the best but shorter ones are nice too, I'm not much of a fan of the really long barrels on revolvers though.

I like the 8" barrel lengths best for a 1860 Colt clone. I like the 5.5" barrels best on the Remy's and on the 1873 peacemaker I like the 4 & 3/4" barrels best.

To me the 4 3/4 on a Colt SAA looks the coolest but I don't have one. I do have a 5 1/2 and another 7 1/2 and like both very much.

Depends on what you're doing with it. In the woods I like the 7 1/2-8. On horseback, I prefer the shorter barrels. Overall I like the 5 1/2 the best. Not too short, not too long.
