What Is Wrong With My 700 Remington?

Without going into all the details, I bought a used M700 Remington ADL, 30-06with the "bolt lock" feature. I took the rifle out to shoot and it would not fire. The rifle looks brand new and it feeds well, cycles well, "clicks" when I pull the trigger but there is no dent on the primer, none. I'm just guessing the firing pin is broken but I'm not familiar with the "bolt lock" feature. If the bolt cycles then this would have nothing to do with it, correct? Any ideas or advise? Thanks a bunch!

Yes, it has the J-Lock......but I thought that that feature would prevent the bolt from operating at all, not just cause the firing pin to fail to function.

You're right... I deleted my response just before you replied...:)

I thought I had heard that certain Remingtons had a lock that prevented the firing pin functioning.... I thought it was that J-lock, but it's not.... the whole thing could be a fragment of my imagination...
