What is this part?

Sorry if I put this in the wrong section but I don't know what it is or what it goes to so I didn't know where to put this question.

Going through my spare gun parts tackle-box I found this and have no clue what it is. It measures 1 3/4" length and 1" diameter and has a dovetail cut into one side. It's new in the package (small ziplock bag) and not marked with anything. It's got a parkerized finish. I'm at a loss, cause I don't ever remember ordering anything like this.

No threads on either end. One end has an inside measurement of .922" and the other is .500"

Is it a harmonic balancer? Never seen one that looks like that, but who knows, there are lots of things I have never seen.

(Being partially Redneck, Big foot, UFO's and little green men are not on that list. )

What is it made of? Rubber, plastic, metal?

It's made of steel. I really have no idea where it came from....

With the dimensions you measured, I'm thinking it is a barrel muzzle something or the other. The OD for quite a few common 10/22 barrels is .922", and many others are .50". It also looks like it has a dovetail for a front sight.

Do you own a 10/22 with a custom barrel?

Could be for a 10/22 as I've owned several through the years and always modified them, some with heavy barrels, some with out.

Mal H, thanks to you I just figured it out! It's a Barrel adaptor to install Tech-Sights on a heavy barreled 10/22. (http://www.tech-sights.com/) Ok, we can all relax now, mystery solved. But I still don't remember ordering it.

Maybe it's part of the Tech-Sight kit that you didn't need to use. That is if you bought the Tech-Sight.

Yeah I've got Tech-Sights on my current 10/22, however it's got the factory sporter barrel.......set-up as a liberty training rifle for Appleseed shoots.
