What is this idiot Chavez's problem??

Chavez the leader of Venezuela??

Well, he gained power in a rather brutal and bloody revolution. I mean, something akin to Africa's revolutions.

And he's communist. He's not gonna be too fond of us capitalists

I don't recall Chavez comeing to power in quite the brutal manner that you describe Slateman. He's actually an elected leader.

Yeah thats a common misconception, he actually was elected, by something like 57 percent off the vote, in addition to the Venezuelan people voting to keep him in power just a few months ago (although it was by a narrow margin).

And I don't think the country is technically communist, although it may as well be.

We should still invade it for its precious sorghum though.

Elected like Hitler got elected.

It's simple, the man wants to be the new Castro, and he's got leverage with oil that America needs. I'm sure he'll become the darling of the American and European left, if he's not already.

My bad, I got him confused with Che Guevara.

Still a socialist. Still plowing his country into the ground with a horrible economic scheme.

Talk to some of the folks from that formally nice country and you will find that the KGB has been reborn....He plans (openly) to rule as much of S America as he can take with his bud Fidel’s help. Throwing oil money at formally dieing communist insurgencies around the area as much as possible. Keep an eye on this one. But like most commies he will most likely burn out and take alot of his country and other with him. Its just a matter of when and how much damage he can do in the mean time.

Chavez is well on his way to turning Venezuela into another Zimbabwe. He'll nationalize and confiscate property from the wealth producers and give it to his cronies and the worthless rabble. National GDP will plummet and foreign investment will dry up. Then they can join their African communist/socialist brothers-in-arms in eating tree bark, dirt and rocks.

Elected like Hitler got elected.
Hitler was appointed Chancellor by President Hindenberg to replace a previous chancellor that wanted to implement a communist land reform policy in Germany. Hindenberg was deathly afraid of commies. Hitler then got emergency powers when he burned down the Reichstag and blamed it on the reds.

Wikipedia has a good size profile on Chavez, with a lot of actual information. While there is a lot to disagree with, so far, he doesn't seem very Hitler-like, by any stretch.

The U.S. does have a long history of interferance and manipulation in Latin America for it's own benefit. I don't pretend to understand Mr. Chavez, but the mere fact that he seems to be opposed to US policies in Latin America doesn't strike me as surprising or even unreasonable.
