What is the value of this S&W 25-5?

I have a S&W 25-5, 4" barrel, nickle finish, 95-98%,
serial #: N 8227XX

What would be a fair asking price for this gun?

Depends on exactly where you are...prices vary by region.... In the Dallas area, I would pay $325-350 for it (wholesale price) assuming it had box etc.

Here in the Mid-west, that gun would sell for $375 --> $425, a bit more with proper box and tools.

Although... the nickle finish isn't see that much locally, so it might go $25 --> $50 higher on a good day.

Here in Idaho, I picked up a 25-5 6" nickel 95-98% about 1 year ago, Paid $475, about 1 month ago I picked up a 25-5 8 3/8 in 98-99% condition, blued. Paid about $525, I think it was to much but had the I wants. In my defense though, all the older N frames in good condition are spendy here.

Does a pinned barrel add or subtract from the value?
 
Pinned barrels (which I belive also have recessed cylinders, all mine do) makes them more desireable since they're the older - and better - Smiths.

In the Seattle area 29-2 (pinned and recessed) Smiths go for around $400, I haven't seen a 25-5 around for years.
