What is the name of the movie(s)...

There was a mini-series called Holocaust, one of the many plots was the Warsaw uprising, cant recall another movie that dealt with this. A&E shows it from time to time. pretty good show as i recall.

I think I saw "Kanal" some years back, on a foreign movie channel, but I think that one dealt with the Uprising near the end of WWII.

Pretty harrowing. I remember a scene near the end, where the freedom fighters were in a sewer being chased by the Nazis. They got to the outfall, only to find steel bars or mesh blocking their way.

You might try some of the foreign video sites on the Web.

The movie Jakob the Liar takes place in the Warsaw ghetto. Not much stuff on armed resistance though. Most of the Jews in the movie preferred to be sheeple. :(

Would you mind explaining why they "preferred to be sheeple" ? The sheer stupidity of that sentence almost gave me an aneurism.

I'll jump on that one. They were stupid/ignorant/outright dumb enough to believe that their government would't do anything to hurt them. They trusted in the kindness of the mob. They made the concious decision not to resist being rounded up and thrown in cattle cars.

My grandfather had to be shot and then beaten like a dog before he was captured and thrown in a concentration camp. At least he tried. Most didn't.
