What is the difference between Sig P230 & P232?

From what Ive seen, they changed the pistol very little. The grips and small details. I know they had to change it and create a new model # (like a whole new gun, LOL) to get around California's gun laws for importation and sale in the state.

The real Sig guys will probably know more accurate info.
Shoot well

I have a blued slide/alu frame P232 & an all stainless P230. Besides the different grip configuration mentioned by Eric Larsen - the main thing I've noticed is that they've apparently re-spec'd the magwell because it's easier to remove/insert mags on the P232. IIRC - the P232 was developed in order to fulfill a relatively large order (in .32 ACP) for the Japanese police - but I'm not sure about that. I like both of them & would likely carry the P232 if I were in the States. Good luck ...

a couple of differences that weren't mentioned that are notable. 1) the P232 grips are significantly fatter - making it a less attractive option for small hands and/or women. 2) the P230 is available in .32 ACP and at some very attractive prices too. the P232 in .380 is a little beast of a pistol with significant recoil compared to other .380's. I've found - for recreational shooting - that the P230 in .32 has about a third less recoil and it a blast to shoot. keep in mind that .32 ammo is NOT cheaper to buy as you might expect, its actually about 20% more than .380 or even 9MM ammo. worth it to me but its your call.

don't be concerned about the P232 being the newer, latest model. if you decide that you want a P230, they are easy to find and replacement parts are aplenty - with one important exception! the grips on the .32 ACP P230 are rare (because they are modified for the safety & lanyard attachent) and almost impossible to replace. so remove them BEFORE cleaning the pistol!

otherwise, enjoy.
