What is the difference between a Ruger Revolver SP101 and GP100?

GP100 has 6 rounds.
Also you can easily change the front site of a 4" GP100 in about a minute.
The SP101 is a nice IWB revolver. The GP 100 is a belt gun.
Both have many easily installed aftermarket grips.
Both kick ass.

The Ruger website gives that info, along with photos that show the external profiles of both models.

The SP-101 is beefier than most snubbies

Heavier to carry, but easier to shoot. Mine's in .38 and it's really easy to shoot even +P stuff.

I have both and concur with the Butt kickin part! :D

The GP100 is a medium-frame 6-shot. The SP101 is a small-frame 5-shot.
Capacity depends on the model.
The .357 Mag versions are 6-shot and 5-shot; but the .327 Federal versions are 7-shot (GP100) and 6-shot (SP101).

Before anyone jumps out of the shadows screaming about the availability of the .327 SP101, I'll note:
The .327 Federal SP101 has been temporarily discontinued, but they are still out there and Ruger has stated that they will be bringing it back after the current demand for other models eases. There's enough demand to keep it around, just not enough demand to stop building LCRs, LCPs, and LC9s...

Now that you know the difference, what they have in common are they're both built like TANKS and will last! You really can't go wrong with either one!
