What is the blue like on the Winchester 70 Sporter?

The current Model 70 Sporter, not the Featherweight, not the Super Grade, but the one in the middle. (The Featherweight doesn't have a long enough barrel, IMO, and I don't like the fore-end tip and price of the Super Grade.)

On the Sporter is it a glossy blue, or matte or satin? I never see them in my LGSs, so I'd have to buy one sight unseen. I like the glossy.

Thanks!

Metal finish on the Sporter is the same as the Featherweight. Barrels are just longer, thicker, heavier. The same for the stock.

If I wanted a magnum chambering the Sporter is the way I'd go. They are way too heavy in the standard chamberings and the 24" barrel is not need for them. The Featherweight is a featherweight in name only. They are about the same weight as everyone else's standard sporter weight rifles, but the balance is just darn near perfect for standard calibers.

Thanks for the info.

Interestingly, in .270 the Sporter with the extra 2" of barrel is only 4 oz heavier than the Featherweight. In .264 it's 8 oz heavier. For some reason the 7mm Mag is not listed as available in the Featherweight, which surprises me.

I really like the looks of the Featherweight the best.
