Plouffedaddy is 100% correct.
The AK in the pictures is about as good as you can get, as long as the stock is strong. The Tapco tele-stocks are easily broken so I would get something strong even if it's the standard infantry issue wood stock, or any of the better quality stocks that can be had.
4 MOA is well within the capability of any AK with a good barrel. In fact, I have made several that do 2 MOZ.
The only down side to an AK as a Home Defense Weapon is that some homes are in very crowded areas, which means you MUST load frangible ammo in the gun, which is costly You can practice with the good cheap imported stuff, but the "home magazine" should be loaded with frangible bullets. I live way out in the country, and so I can use an FN-FAL loaded with 180 grain "Elk Ammo" for a home defense gun if I want to, but city dwellers are not so lucky. My nearest neighbor is nearly 2 miles away.
A 7.62X39 is about like a 30-30 Winchester in power, and in fact, the FMJ bullets that come surplus will out penetrate a 30-30 soft points when it comes to walls and auto bodies. Defending your family with a deer rifle is ok as long as you don't endanger someone else.
Galser Safty Slugs used to be available for the 7.62X39, and they may still be.
Anyone else know of any frangible ammo available, please chime in here
