and what are your opinions and what do they cost and where can I get one?

And unlike the doofus at the gun store when I called ahead, I am talking about the full size older model, not a cheetah or tomcat.

Actually, it is a Cheetah, Model 86, they retail for around $500, you can find them used in the low-mid $300's. You can check it out at Beretta's website : http://www.beretta.com I had an 85 (single stack) that was a real nice shooter, accurate, reliable, fine fit & finish. the are a bit big as .380's go, but they fit the hand nicely, and witn Federal H/S, Cor-Bons or similar modern loads, i wouldn/t feel particularly under gunned.

As you've probably figured out, the tip-up barrel is a real boon to those who can't easily rack the slide, e.g those with arthrytis, low upper body strength, some elderly folks, and it makes it easy to check the charge status, i.e. is it loaded. I also liked teh frame mounted safety (a la 1911). good luck in your search. M2
