What is the Beretta Elite IA ?

My dealer's latest catalog lists an Elite IA (as in one-A) but offers no description of the pistol. Can anyone here enlighten me?

Taken from the Beretta Forum:

92G Elite IA is a 92G Elite with the Vertec backstrap and accessory
rail.
96G Elite IA is a 96G Elite with the Vertec backstrap and accessory
rail.

Note that this is based on the Elite, not the Elite II. All the
features of the original Elite, plus the Vertec straight backstrap, Vertec grips, short trigger, and accessory rail. The barrel is black stainless like all Vertecs, so it is an all-black gun.

To avoid the inevitable questions, this means the Elite IA does *not* have the grip frame checkering, extended magazine release, Novak sights, or lightened trigger pull of the Elite II. The Elite II continues to exist in the product line exactly the way it's been for the past two years.

MSRP is $100 less than the Elite II ($812 v. $912). Production should have guns built by some time in March.

Hope it helps...
