What is some good cheap ammo to shoot in 1911 .45

What is some good inexpensive ammo to shoot through my new Kimber when I am just shooting for fun? For self-defense loads I will have Federal 230 grain Hydra shock.

Try Sellior and Bellot, Fiochi, PMC, and CCI Blazer. All of these should run about $10 a box, by mail or at gunshows. All are 230 grain FMJ.

I shoot Sellior & Belloit all of the time in my Sig220. It is cheap and accurate. I usually try to stock up at the gun shows. However, when I run out I go to a local dealer who sells them for 11.95 per 50rd box. These are $2 cheaper than UMC's at Walmart.

Guys,

I purchased 500 rounds of S&B from ammomman.com for $100.00--delivered. It is the best price I have found. Locally, Atlanta, S&B sells for $9.99 plus tax and yo pick it up.

If there is a better deal--other than reloads--please let me know.

How about 1000 rounds of .45 S&B for $179.97? (shippping not included) but worth a look no matter where you are. From Centerfire Systems 1-800-950-1231. Order a flyer. Many good specials on different types of ammo and other goodies.

THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THE RIGHT JOB

Is S&B "hot" like Fiochi ? What kind of primers do they use, and is this ammunition potentially destructive ?

My new brand is Speer Lawman. Extremely clean and accurate.

You could buy 756 rounds/$105 Milspec Hardball WWII production, in a sealed tin from Tennessee Guns 865-577-1939.

Lately, I've been using PNP .45 ball in my assorted .45 autos. It shoots very well and has reloadable cases. Both my Baer and P9S seem very fond of the stuff. Haven't tried it in the G21 yet. If I recall correctly, the local gun show had it for about $170/M.

I also bought 1000 rounds S&B for about 175$.
I use it with my Glock 21.
It´s nice ammo, very accurate and I had only one problem on 400 rounds (case wasn´t ejectet).
But it´s real dirty stuff. Extremely dirty !
After 50 rounds, my gun looks like having shot 1000 other rounds.
And the barrel is hard to clean, this stuff won´t get out without strong solvents.
That sucks because it shots so nice and accurate.
Another "problem" of the S&B is the red "paint" on the primers.which has also to be removed from the firing pin area.
And I had some lead on the slide, near the firing pin which seems to have been melted off the bottom of the bullet. Are they using such a hot powder ?
I never had lead on my guns when using FMJ´s.

My next ammo will be the Fiocchi, which is only few more expensive.
And the Fiocchi feels a little bit more powerfull.
I´ve shot about 5000 Fiocchis with my P-226 (9mm) and had no single problem with that stuff.
Good ammo !

PMC is real good stuff too, but not as cheap as Fiocchi is.
But if you find it for a good price ... take it ! You won´t be disappointed.

You can also use the PMP from South Africa. It´s good stuff for little money.

But you should be carefull with the Aguilla .45 !!!
I´ve seen a 5000$ Custom-1911 blown by this real hard stuff.
