What is it about the CZ-75b?

Everybody I talk to speaks highly of the CZ-75b.

So, what makes it so special?

Is it because it is a cheap, reliable gun that takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'?

  • Fits very well in just about everyones hand.
  • Reliable as all heck.
  • Accurate.
  • Cheap hi-caps (generic, but they work).
  • Durable.
  • Easy to clean.
  • Inexpensive.

Really good ergonomics
Really reliable
Tough all-steel construction
Good accuracy
Cheap and plentiful 15-round magazines
Cocked & Locked SA or DA/SA with standard safety; decocker, DAO, SAO available
Better than average trigger for DA auto
Variety of nice factory finishes (polycoat, polished blue, nickel & two-tone)
Alot less crude than a Ruger semi-auto for about the same price

In case you can't tell, I really like mine. :D

Also because there was a ready supply of "new" pre 10/21/98 pistols, so they could be sold in MA.

CZ-USA does not plan to certify their new pistols for sale here, when I called them last month.

The CZ is also big and heavy compared to a lot of newer pistols, so like the M1911, it's quite comfortable to shoot. So a lot of people who actually buy guns to shoot buy them.

And to think I could have bought one at a military Rod & Gun club for less than $200.....

For me (why I like CZ's):

1. Excellent accuracy (CZ 75B compares to my Sigs, while my CZ 97B is MORE accurate than my Sigs)

2. Excellent ergonomics for my hand shape

3. They've been reliable thus far

4. ALL STEEL FRAME (HEAVY)--> I PREFER heavy pistols-->IMO they balance better and soak up recoil better than lighter ones

5. Good fit/finish (inside NON-critical parts have some tool marks; however the outside finish is very good and all CRITICAL parts have a good finish). The fit is on the tight side, which I prefer.

6. COCKED AND LOCKED ABILITY! :)

>> I was wondering why they were so available in MA.

Was available - almost all the pre-98's are sold out.

Two hours after those planes took off from Logan Airport, the gun control debate in MA took on a whole new tone. Our club used to run a new safety course every other month - now they are running three per week.

We got lots of '98 CZ's because we would pay slightly more than some "free market" states. We only had new SIGs and S&W's available. The last batch of pre-98 CZ75B's is for sale at Four Seasons for $419.95 - up from $350 about six months ago.

They are good guns...not just for the money...but just good guns.
They feel perfect in most hands, eat anything, shoot accurately, designed well, tough and good looking finish's and I want to marry the blonde that CZ uses for their ads....:D
They are good guns...
Shoot well

All of the above plus, they are a $450 gun (at least) still for around $325 with one hicap and one 10 round mag. Old world craftmanship. A real Ruger killer.

The thing about a CZ 75 is that it's a tough all steel gun that will drill out a 3 inch circle offhand at 25 yards all day using +P+ ammo. It has a low bore and great grip which means they have lower felt recoil than the competition and did I mention they shoot great. rc

I ditto all the good things everyone has said about it. I love this gun. CZ is one of the most acurate reliable 9mm guns out there. Looking at getting my hands on one of these sometime soon. And you can't get all these goodies it is built and come with for the price it sells for. All my pistols are mostly Sigs, and CZ has about the qiualities of Sig but for way less money.
