The model 31's were built in a time when Remington hand built their guns, so quality is so much better than present day. These models came in a varity of models, the steel recievered models with a steel trigger guard is the most valuable. The steel recievered, alluminum trigger guard is less valuable, while the lightweight all alluminum is least valuable. These were very well built firearms and quite reliable. Plain jane models sell for @$150 while checkered stock models with factory solid rib barrels bring @$375. However any modifications, such as your aftermarkets Cutts Componsater greatly reduces value as does any refinishing. I have been on the hunt for a plain model with such a choke so that I can do a modification I desire, I would never do on an original unaltered firearm.
