What is a p-90

Hi all, this is my first post. I have been looking for a place to post questions about firearms, and I thank you all for providing it.

My current question is about the FN P-90. I first saw this gun on Stargate SG1 (TV show). I later heard refrencese to it on a diffrent show. From what I have heard it is a bullpup style SMG with a HORAZANTAL 90? round top loading clip, and has long range and high knockdown power.
Is this gun REAL? How dose it WORK? What calibare is it? What barrel langth is it? Haw much dose it way? And would any of you buy one if you could?

The P-90 is indeed real. It fires a miniscule cartridge with a diameter similar to the round fired by the M-16 (which is a .223), but with less powder and bullet weight. It is designed to penetrate body armor at 100 yards, while firing controllably on full-auto.

In this, it succeeds, but the wounding potential is even less than many common handgun rounds.

You cannot get one in the US, due to the date it was manufactured, unless you meet one of several criteria: law enforcement, as a dealer sample, or as a member of a corporation.

The round does not have "long range" (lightweight projectiles lose velocity very rapidly), and there is no such thing as knockdown power when dealing with shoulder-fired arms, unless you speak of rocket projectiles.
 
This weapon was used by Peruvian special forces when they recaptured the Japanese Embassy in Peru. Apparently, the bad guys were wearing armor and the P90 was successful in dispatching them with extreme prejudice.
 
the P-90 and the Five seveN are manufactured by FN and they both are chambered for the 5.7 x 28 which is a 30 carbine necked to .224 it is a nice little round probably would be great for ghogs or coyotes up to 150 yds. with the armor piercing round FN and Win make for it it will punch thru 48 layers of kevlar up to 200 m from the p-90 and up 50 m fron the Five seveN the P90 has a 50rnd clip and is only 19.5 inches long. the Five-seveN has a 20 round mag..check out the web site in the above post is is simple but nice here is the pistol that goes with it...
