I'd say $250.00 to $325.00 and on the new ones and better spent elsewhere. This is the first time I will recommend a Mossberg, over a Remington. I'm only referring to the new Expresses and not the older ones or WingMasters. ....

Considering that I have a new express that's being rechambered... I'm going to agree with you... The factory chamber is undersized and the relief cut for the rim isn't deep enough...
get a 870 express and shoot the tar out of it,in a few years you will love it or get a older 870 and you will love it right away.i have nine older 870,s and newe 870r expresses and have not had problem one. they go from 410 to 12ga mag. eastbank.
That price range is about right. Just shop around and look for sales. If there is a gun show near you sometime soon, you'll most likely be able to find a bunch on the lower end of that range. Good luck.
I would just get a mossberg 500 and call it a day. I use mine to to hunt deer, pig, birds, and also an HD gun. You can pick one up for the same price as an 870. I don't dislike the 870 as I have one myself, I just like to 500 better.
