What is a good O/U midlvl gun

I have a 391 and want to get an O/U. What is a good gun for up to $3,000? The Beretta 391 fits me so I am thinking that a Beretta O/U would be a good choice. Your inputs are requested. I did try a Franchi (?) and didn't like it. Also, I am in the Phoenix area and do not know where to go to get something a little better. Info on that would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

For $3000 your not looking for a mid-level o/u. Your kind of at the top of the bracket before you start getting to exotic models. Try Rizzini or Merkel. They are high quality for around that price, or save yourself some money and get a cynergy or citori. Winchester select sports a very nice o/u very durable and about half of what you're looking to spend.

I have Beretta and Browning o/u's and they are all good choices. I stay with them because besides being good shooters, parts availability and service is much better than the less popular makes.

The Berettas and Brownings are fine guns. So are the guns from Guerini and B. Rizzini.

I have a 28 ga. Guerini Woodlander and highly recommend the line. They run from $2395 for the Woodlander on up to about $7000. Most of the ones I've seen are between $2700 and $3500. They make field guns and sporting/competition guns with recoil pads and extended chokes. Service is provided by the distributor in Maryland and is fast and very friendly. I had the gun shop send the Woodlander back to have the ejectors converted to extractors and had the gun back in a week.

I've also been looking at the B. Rizzini guns at a local shop and have been every bit as impressed with them as I am the Guerinis. The trouble is I keep going back to look at a 12 ga. Sporting gun with a $6700 tag on it. The $2k and $3k are very nice and more in my range though. Still...it doesn't hurt to look, right?

FWIW, the two Guerini brothers started out working for their uncle B. Rizzini. :)

Thanks, I have looked at the Winchesters and like the looks. I put my zip code in under their dealer search and nothing came up. I then put the state and nothing came up. Guess they need to update it. I have been looking at the Berettas and Brownings. I like them both. Tired of looking on the computer and need to go to a store.

From a purely selfish point of view, I'd say get the cynergy ($1500-$2300) and then report back on it. I want one but I haven't heard enough about them.

Whatever you decide, make sure it fits you well. It might be worth taking a couple hundred off your price and putting that towards a stock fitting, so that it will be perfect for YOU.

Good luck with your decision.

I bought a Browning 525 Citori. It feels good, haven't shot it yet. Hope it is good. I will find out on Sunday.

For $3000 I am ALL OVER a Beretta 682 Gold. I have shot a LOT of O/U shotguns, from $400 imports to $75,000 uber custom Kolar and Perazzi multi-barrel set guns. The 682 Gold is very nearly as nice as the ultra expensive guns, and heads and shoulders above everything else in its price range.

A used Krieghoff K-80 would also be a good choice, or a clean Remington 3200 tube gun.
