What is a "diamond insert grip" of some 19-3's?

I find mention that in 1968, the S&W 19-3 got rid of the 'diamond insert grips'. Unfortunately, no pictures. I am curious about what this looks like. Can anybody explain this to me? Or, even better, post a picture?

S&W stocks made before 1968 had the uncheckered area around the retaining screw seen in Hal's posted pictures. The stocks themselves had a slightly different contour and to me feel more comfortable than the later style. Sort of less chunky. These early stocks for the K frames (10, 19, 66 etc) are fairly cheap and easy to find. The same style for the N frames (24, 25, 27 etc) have gotten rather pricey recently. The early N frame "diamond" Target stocks have become truly outrageous in price, selling for $250-$400 on ebay.
