XD9 Service model 4in barrel.

Looking to get into competitive shooting and I would like to use my XD.

You would be best off to shoot it in IPSC/USPSA Production.
It would be in IDPA ESP because it is mechanically single action.

U can shoot prduction and limited 10 in USPSA. Stock service, enhanced service, or custom service pistol in IDPA. I shoot stock service with my XD-9 service, And here in about a mionth ill be shooting production-maybe limited 10 with it.

Its a very common gun in IDPA.

Blake.

In IDPA and USPSA there is a class for just about anything. Its nothing to worry about, just show up and tell them what you are shooting, and they will put you in a class. All you gotta do is shoot and have fun.

For USPSA

1. Production: Best Fit
2. Limited/L10: Would be scored as minor due to the caliber (Must be 40cal/10mm minimum and meet a 165pf to be scored major)
3. Open: Could be used but you would be at a competitive disadvantage. This division is dominated here in the United States by the double stack 1911's but there has been some movement towards Glock's (I.e. Dave Sevigny )

IDPA
1. ESP

The Springfield XD series, as mentioned, are not SSP legal (IDPA). In 9mm or .40, you are confined to ESP. In .45 ACP, you could also shoot CDP.
