Consider history as your guide. In Ireland, about 200 - 350 'terrorist' have basically kept the COUNTRY of England putting troops in their country for a looonnnng time.
In Vietnam, we sent (over a period of eight to ten years) 500,000 well equiped, well trained troops that were completely demoralized by a MUCH SMALLER terrorist group.
In both instances, these small groups were supplied by others. In our instance, some of us have been preparing for this for years. The state militias formed at grass roots levels will probably be ineffective, BUT they show those that are willing to show their willingness to fight the government since the mid-80's (earlier?). How many gun owners have quietly stashed away an few weapons, complete with ammo, etc. 5% of gun owners? 10% of gun owners? Lets say (for ease of those of us mathematcially challenged - like me) that 10% of 70 million gun owners set aside those 'arsenals' for just such a scenario. Out of that 7 million, lets say that only 10% of those ACTUALLY ACTED with those weapons. That means that approximately 700,000 people will be sniping at whoever becomes 'the bad guys' in this interface, nationwide. Would we win? Probably, but it's hard to say.
Historically, less than 10% of the population supported the 'upstart uprising' of our founding fathers. Fewer still ACTUALLY picked up arms and fought. Yet we finally defeated the 'Superpower England' (with the help of France and a few others).
Will I fight? Depends. Mainly on when all this occurs. If I can still lift a finger, I will do all I can to aid those fighting for our freedoms. Sometimes, just willing to support those who do the actual fighting can make a world of difference. As I get older, I realize that while I might be in the way on the front lines, I can definately aid and support those who are. If I can fight on the front lines without causing problems, I would consider it my duty and an honor to fight for the freedoms our fore fathers fought and died for.
