Weekend before last I graduated college and last weekend I went to Charlotte. Cool huh Anyway I thought I would let anyone who did not get to attend know what I saw in handguns. First if you've never been to one of these then I really suggest you try and make one. Its like Toys r Us for gun nutz. Whats really nice is how you can feel handle and dry fire just about any gun you want. Now onto the firearms.
Glock 36-must have for the Glockaholic! 1911 guys will snub their noses at it. the 36 is 6 shot with thw clip having an extended floor plate. No word of a flush fit with 5 rounds or not. While thinner than the 30 this gun still seems thick To me if this gun was like an 8 shot little bit thinner 9mm it would sell even crazier.
Springfield "loaded"- I played with it for the first time and must say I was impresed. The had the FBI model out too and their really didn't seem to be $1,000 difference in the two. I didn't spend as much time as I would have liked with these but they seemed extremly nice.
Kimber-I've never even held a Kimber before the show. I kinda felt that the Springfield was along the same line as the Kimber however the wide body polymer framed custom was UNBELIEVABLE. pure balance and feel made me get weak.
Para-Ordnance-By far without a doubt the greatest trigger I've ever felt was the LDA single stack. I don't own a 1911 and I thought the idea of a double action for this gun was dumb. I WAS WRONG! The single stack seemed to feel better than the others and the guy working there sayed it was probably becaused it had been dryfired so much. For those of you who like to carry a .45 conceled the new LDA p12 is the one to have. besides being smaller to carry they bobbed the hammer making it less likely to snag on clothes. My next gun may be a Para' due to how great I thought they felt and how nice the reps were. Top notched guys.
Beretta-They have the most new guns out it seemed. Besides getting cought up with all the new model 92's they have I just looked at their new guns. My gun of the show was teh new 9000. I love this gun, while being thick in the gripit felt as if it was glued to your hand. Besides that you can carry the thing cocked and locked, very cool. They also had a .357 cougar (same as .40) and the 92m. I've seen this gun in ads for along time and finally got to hold it. This is a single stack 9mm based on the 92. As excited as I was to finally see it I was alittle let down. It seemed as if it was almost as wide as the 92f but with half as many rounds. The .22 conversion kit for the 92f is great looking and nice cooming form the factory. Finally I didn't see this at the show but noticed it in the book that a new cougar is coming out as a midsize 12 shot 9mm.
Rugar-The main thing I drooled on from them was the .454 this is one well designed gun.
Smith & Wesson-BOYCOT-they were even snooty to the people who went to see them.
Walther-p99's everywhere and a new color, a green frame and its called the military version? I didn't like its looks so I didn't even ask the what was different.
Colt-contrary to what has been going around about these guys they seemed energetic and charged up. Main thing from them was the 1991A1 is still being made. Suggested retail is like $578. The greatest thing was playing around with a custom shop peacemaker and dryfiring it. I have a question about the new cowboy, does it seem "smaller" than a peacemaker?
Steyr-This was the one I wanted to see the new S series. No handguns at the show. I forgot about them until I was about to leave and realized to start looking for GSI. When I walked by them I saw only rifles and alot of Scouts. If I missed their handguns then I'm an idiot.
I'm sure their is more I'll remember and if I do i'll post it under this thread.
