I was taught as a child that making comments on someone's appearance is bad manners.
Me2...
But I also think its bad manners to make yourself repulsive intentionally...
More tattoos than skin...
More earrings than ears...
More general piercings than any reasonable human could need to enhance their appearance...
I had the lucky moment once... my son's several friends were sitting on our front porch discussing this topic... When I walked out on the porch they turned to me and asked me why I thought so many young people were into tattoos and body piercings...
I said,
"I think they have too much time on their hands and they're tired of masturbation."
I was not making reference to their faces, or parts thereof... only to the way
they choose to present
themselves... Their opinion against mine... so to speak.
Anybody who isn't particularly pretty, who buy's ugly little squinty specs to "adorn" his face, deserves to have his caricature compared to the self-made caricature of
Hannity's co-host... or James Carville...
or that of Gollum, whose "precious" made him what he was, as surely as if it had been hanging in his nose, or ear, or belly button... these things become very much a part of the character and eventually take root in the soul.
