I was at the Flea Market today in Fla.and I over heard this man tell another"No you do not want that, get the Glock 30 that is in a 44 caliber and it is the only gun made to fire underwater"..I love the gun expert's that are running around and they know it all and must pass on there great wisdom to other's..
I am still kicking myself for not saying" I think you are wrong on a few point's about the Glock"

Boy, firing underwater is really high on my "must have" list of features . You never know when you might fall into a pool, while struggling with a goblin...

You know some people like to keep a gun in each room of the house so one will always be nearby. Maybe this is his bathtub gun.

Don't worry ... Fud will find a use for this capability. :) :)

Only a matter of time till FUD falls into the ocean with jaws. Big :)

I saw a nature show from Australia with scuba divers carrying Glock 17s with the special firing pin and shooting sharks with it.

I think the Great lakes and inland jobbers are pretty shark free but I still find this underwater capability with shooting cups fascinating. May want to get some for the local fish runs :D although it would be hard to compete with my neighbor who goes after steelhead with 12 ga. slugs.

Why doesn't anybody tell him the truth?
When Glock initiated production of the accessories, they developed a marketing program to promote them. It involves sponsorship of their "Competition Pool Program". They even made a series of thick vinyl targets (bulls-eye, body shapes, etc) with a stabilizing base to hang over into the water. There are 10; 20; and 25 ft. competitions; in both fresh water and salt water modes. Shooters are NOT allowed head submersions (difficult for some physically impaired), and require standing or sitting with below water timed firing. I've forgotten some of the rest; but if you contact Glock or their website, just ask for the program. Sheesh......  :D :D

Please invite the "expert" to our forum so we can start another "Do you carry in the shower?" thread. I've been bored lately and this might have entertainment value.<g>

In all seriousness, just how effective would a bullet be travelling through water? I would suspect that a razor sharp knife/sword (12" - 18" blade) would do more damage against a shark, alligator, etc.

FUD

I have to admit it FUD, I get warm fuzzies inside when I read some of your posts... :D

Don`t tell my wife, or she might think I`m being unfaithful. ;)

You`re alright FUD, I don`t care what anybody else says! LOL

SHOOT,COMMUNICATE AND MOVE OUT !

Well.... I thought that ONLY the 17 and 19 in 9mm were OK'd for underwater firing, and that's only with FMJ ammo.

Something about the hollowpoints expanding in the bore...

Since 9mm will penetrate what, maybe 19 inches of water, it's generally a contact-distance weapon.

I've *heard* from one reliable source that the intended application is for a diver to approach a dockside sentry and pop the poor soul from maybe one foot under the surface.

IME, for such a mission to be possible, it would require both darkness and water so murky that I wouldn't want to be in it.

Naw, it's gotta be a bathtub gun for sinking your kid brother's toy battleships.

somewhere on one of the gun forums there was a legitimate post from someone about shooting his AK under water in the pool at his apt complex! so hey anything is possible.
btw
the one who posted the ak thread said the bullet went the full length of the pool and then some IIRC!
