The Constitution does not grant any right of any kind to anyone. Rights are not granted by government, they are granted by the creator, whomever or whatever one may perceive that to be. Rights do not exist because the government says they do; rights exist in spite of whatever any government may say as to their existence.
There is only one set of rights which applies equally to all, be they black, white, yellow, red, gay, straight, young, old, male, female.
The right to life is the first of all rights, for our very lives are our most precious posession. It is life that gives meaning to the existence of the universe.
As long as there exist threats to life, it is the right of every person be able to defend their life should it be attacked.
Control to any degree of the lives and decisions of those who live morally without their capable and uncoerced consent is slavery.
As long as there exists the threat of others attempting to control the lives of those whose behavior does not warrant control, the right to defense exists.
It is immoral to initiate the use of force against anyone for any reason. It seems simple at first glance, but it has ramifications which are deeply profound. It means that involuntary taxation is immoral.
The power to tax is the power to control and destroy. The power to control and destroy only needs exercising against those whose immoral actions cause harm to others, deprive others of their property, or infringe upon others' rights.
It really is that simple. "The art of politics" is not an art; it is nothing more than the dark science of convincing people whose behavior is moral why they should subject themselves to controls and restrictions necessary only for those whose behavior is immoral.
This entire issue has been "politicized" to hide the fact that taking away a means of protection is a deprivation of basic human rights. It is that simple.
