What happened to the good 100.00 revolvers

I have 8 revolver ranging in price from 35.00 to 79.00 Including a S & W model 33-1 Six of them purchased in the past four years. I went int a pawn shop and they had a loose (play in barrel catch) H & R top break in 32 S & W for 160.00, three weeks ago. I told them I was not going over 100.00 and told them I purched a U.S. Revolver top break and it worked, last year for 44.00. He turned around and walked away. I went in there today and it still 160.00 This was the same pawn shop were I bought my S & W for 70.00 plus tax. I guess the price of gas is not the only thing that has gone up.
This my first message on this Forum and hope I did it right,

Florida prices

Yes, everything is higher than four years ago. As far as Florida is concerned the prices may have gone up much faster because of the concealed carry laws and the home defense laws. The unnatural surge in buyers could easily have pushed prices up much more than other places.

Yep your $100 guns are now between $200 and 300 I looked at a old S&W pre model ?? almost all the blueing was gone and looked like someone took 80 grit sandpaper to it and they wanted $225 I just handed it back.Even just the last year prices have gone way up and a decent gun is getting hard to find :(

I thought prices took a jump when the number of FFLs were cut by the requirement to have a storefront. Less competition, more overhead, higher prices.

Blame inflation, concealed carry laws, post 9-11 fears, or just the fact that the buyers are willing to pay that much. Prices will never go down, unfortunetly.

I think the internet is the main cause. Every Tom, Dick, and Bubba knows what other people are asking (and apparently getting) for their old revolvers.
If they can't sell it at the fleamarket in Fargo, they can sell it to a collector in NYC.

If you don't mind settling, you can go for those cheap Colt Pythons ;), they must still be around $100. This is still 1969, isn't it???

"This is still 1969, isn't it???"

Yes, and McDonalds is still paying $1.15 an hour and I still can't afford a Python. :)

Seriously though....used revolvers have gone way up in a short time. Not that long ago, I used to thumb my nose at all the nearly new $200 Colts and S&W revolvers at the gunshows. They've nearly doubled in price in less than 10 years. I guess there are still deals to be had, but they are much fewer and farther between. I'm stunned when I see the prices on WWW.Gunsamerica, and laugh (sadly) when I see them in the local shops with a $350 -400 tag.

I agree ATTICUS,

The guns I come across at the local shops or see online for sale are NOT cheap; guns have gone way way up. Maybe because of the trend of the last several years of Rep. conservative leadership, more people feel better about buying guns then in the pre 9/11, liberal Dem days? Whatever it is the prices are through the roof because the demand has risen and the only bargains I see are the one's related on the forums by posters, not in the stores or online venues! ;)

I agree 100%.
You can add one more culprit to the list though. Blame S&W. If they still made guns like they used to, the used ones would have much less value in a buyer's eyes.
I DID find a pinned Model 10 for $159. I was a happer camper.

On the bright side....there are a number of LE revolvers hitting the market right now. I picked up a Ruger GP100 and a S&W Model 10 this year, and both were under $200, and both are in pretty good shape. The Ruger came from Canada and the Smith from a mystery U.S. Corrections Dept.
