What handgun that you DID have are you the most sorry for letting go?

I've owned well over a thousand handguns in my life: some for investment. Many I traded and most I had to let go during a ten year period of chronic unemployment due to spinal problems. Luckily all my guns sold for more than I paid for them which was not true of my other investments.

Of all the handguns I sold -- I most regret the sale of only a few: several Walther TPHs, My .30 Enforcer pistol which fired M-1 carbine ammo and magazines powerfully, dependably and accurately; my Walther P5 compac; the first generation Glock 19 and 21; my little snubby .38 S&W which was a tack driver and my little Beretta .22 Minx which would put the rounds exactly to point of aim.

Luckily I have a couple of TPHs and a couple of Makarovs which are the best pistols of any kind I ever had -- but I still miss the old friends I had to let go.

How about you?

The gun that I MOST regret letting go was the Ruger Blackhawk .357MAG that I had to leave with my ex-wife. I loved that gun!!!! As it turns out, I think that the little B!tch sold it anyway.

Yeah, I got a permit to carry,it's called the friggin Constitution.---Ted Nugent

Four months ago I bought from a friend a 1968 S&W Model 10 .38 for $100. Immaculate condition but I didn't enjoy shooting it so I sold to a dealer for the same money to buy a GP-100 .357. Found out I'm not into revolvers so I sold it in only two months. But now I sure wish I could have that Model 10 back just to have a classic wheelgun, don't want to shoot it, just have it to admire for its beauty. Went back to the dealer to buy it back and it was gone! Yeah, someone help me kick myself.

I had a .41 mag snubnose that I pawned for beer money when I was home and leave from the Marines. This was before I had as much interest in quality handguns as I do now. It was a beautiful gun that was accurate, powerful and beautifully made. I won't even tell you how little I got for it because I can't bear to think about it anymore! This was almost ten years ago and it still bothers me to this day!

Model 29 4" with a spectacular trigger job I traded to a dealer for something I needed. The bluing on this beastie was so deep I miss just looking at it.

My two worst regrets: the .44 Automag, complete w/plastic box and a box of factory ammo, and the Andy Cannon-customized M629 Classic Hunter. That thing had a safe SA trigger letoff around a pound, and a DA pull of about 3.5 pounds. Slabsided bull barrel with built in compensator. Accurate as all get out.

All I've ever sold (except recently I sold my one Glock; just don't like plastic guns).

Favs that got away are three Security Sixes, all 4" stainless, one a '76 model, and a CA Undercover in 38 that would shoot 1" at 20 yards.

A S&W mod 66 with a 21/2" bbl and beautiful leather holster that I packed for years in the woods. Beretta mod 92 with two factory hi-caps and two 17 round Mec-gars. A .40 cal Browning Hi-Power. Countless .44 mags. Best, J. Parker

44 Magnum Ruger Vaquero...at least I know it has a good home now.

The Gun I miss Most is a 1964 Winchester 30/30 Lever Action, man that gun was slick.

But it wouldn't group worth shyt, or at least I though so then,

I hate the New Lever with that stupid Push Button Safties, bring back the Half Cock.... PULEASE

PROUD TO BE CANADIAN

1. 5 1/4" tapered barrel Ruger MkII. Great balance, accuracy, and function.

2. My first (and best of three) 6" 686 S&W. Very accurate with any load I tried in it, and within a couple of inches of POA at 25 yds. with any 125 to 158 weight bullets.

3. a Series '70 1911 which had beeb electroless nickel finished, fed anything accept horrible reloads, and was extremely accurate with 200 grain SWC's and too much Blue Dot to mention.

My only regret would be a NIB H&K Model 4 with all 4 of the factory caliber conversions in a pair of serial numbered boxes. It was in 100% condition, unfired and handled very little.

3. Reminton 600 Mohawk in .308 with recoil pad and 18.5: bbl. and 4X Weaver scope

Do you more? sniff!

You have to be there when it's all over. Otherwise you can't say "I told you so."

Better days to be,

(1) NIB Python, royal blue, walnut target stocks, 4-inch barrel.

(2) Detective Special, walnut stocks, in excellent condition. This was a fine little revolver, that I found very easy to shoot for its size.

I wish I had 'em back.

BTW, I actually got back one gun that I shouldn't have traded away. It's an S&W Model 49. The guy who bought it at the gunshop never fired it and traded it back to the same shop about ten years later. When I saw it in the case I went for it! Maybe it'll happen again with another gun ....

Like the rest, I regret selling almost all of them. The one that really makes me sick, though, occurred in 1976 when I picked up a used Walther PPK Pre-War 25 Auto. Yeah, that's right, a pre-war 25 ppk. Out of ignorance I traded off one of the most desirable guns of all time. Guess what I traded for? A Llama 380. Had to give $20 to boot to get it. I still have nightmares over this one! :(
