What guns would you have used for what historical period?

I put this in general because I'm thinkig Rifle, Handguns, & Shotguns.

If you where alive at the time, and could have access to any weapon availible in the world at that time, what would you use? What do you think where the coolest guns of that time?

Civil War: Spencer.56 carbine, LeMat Revolver, not sure about shotguns.

Old West: Winchester 94, S&W Schofield revolver, Browning's lever action shotgun.

Early 1900s: Mauser Rifle, Roth-Steyer Pistol, Model 95 shotgun.

WWI: 1911, Lewis gun, Model 95

Roaring Twenties: 1911, Tommy gun or BAR, Auto 5

WWII: 1911, FG42, Auto 5

1950s-1970s: 1911, FN FAL, Remington 870

1980s-What do you use now: 1911, Remington 870, AR15

Those are my opinions. Any body else?

Pre. 1776? I would chose these... Ma Duce's and 16" 50 cal. cannons. M1911 pistols and M14 rifles as set up by Clint McKee!
:D :D :D Not a bad choice today :)
Best, Hank

Yes Larry I know I'm doing the time warp thing but wouldn't it be fun?

For the war of independece, I am not sure, for the civil war there was a cool 3 shot semiauto rifle that was still being tested, and then 1911's and 30.06 garrand, then the M-14, all in there prospective time slots.

Too bad, I thought this was something else. After watching the Patriot, I kept thinking how cool it would be to walk up few cases of M-16a1's and a few thousand loaded 30 rd mags to their little encampment. I even thought of the begining of a speach to give them. Let me introduce you to your new best friend... Oh well.

Civil War - Whitworth Rifle, Remington Army revolver.

Old West - S&W Schofield or Merwin Hulbert (sp?) in .44 or .45, Winchester 1876 or Ballard, Greener side by side 10 gauge.

Turn of the Century - Mauser C96, Winchester Lee Navy Straight Pull or Winchester 1895 in .30-40, Winchester 1897 12 gauge.

1920s. Smith & Wesson Triple Lock in .45 Colt or .44 Spl., Winchester 1897 in 12 gauge, Winchester Model 70 in .30-06 (or is this too early?)

1940s. Smith & Wesson .357 Mag., M1 Garand, Winchester 1897 12 gauge.

Today. All of the above. :)

Beware the man with the S&W .357 Mag.
Chances are he knows how to use it.

Having just seen the Patriot, and wanting to indulge in the time warp fantasy, I would say give me a modern sniper rifle, ghillie suit, the whole bit, AND ditch the ridiculous line-to-line battle tactics mandated by the ethics present in that war. Man oh man could I snipe a lot of Redcoats before getting caught!

Phased pulse rifle in the 40mW range for any time in history... (Oh, and lots of spare power packs.) :D

Civil War: Well, I dont know much about the civil war...
Old West: Winchester '94, Schofield, Gee, I dont know what shotgun...
Early 1900's: Mauser, 1903 Pocket, Lever shotgun model 97(I am ze terminator)
WWI: 1917 Win., 1911, Auto 5
1920'S: Tommygun, 1911, Sawed off Auto-5
WWII: 1911, BAR, Auto-5
1950's-1970's: 1911, AK47, Probably an 870
1980's: 1911/Beretta/Glock17, AR15, Mossberg 500
1990's: Damn, cant I just keep the ones I have been collecting since the 1800's?

French Indian War - Jager rifle. Shorter than a long rifle, faster to load. Hopefully with a smaller (50 or 54 cal) as opposed to the larger 60 plus cal. bore. Tomahawk, scalping knife considered essential.

Ferguson breechloader rifle for Revolutionary War era until adoption of percussion firearms. Faster loading helps. Same tomahawk and scalping knife.

Pre Civil War. 2 band .577 cal. Enfield rifled musket.

Scoped Whitworth for Civil War, otherwise Henry lever action first, Spencer second. No revolver (too much weight). Camp ax & Knife.

M-41A Pulse Rifle or a HK CAWS for all periods....

For the Revolution, I would take a Barrett M-82A1 and LOTS of ammo for some night hunting :D
