What gun was used by Denzel Washington in "Training Day"

He had two of them and was blasting away Hollywood style. Looks like he needs some Homies Nytesites the way he tilted them sideways. Anyway, I was just wondering what kind of gun they were. If I have to guess, I'd say Browning Hi Power or some kind of S&W semiauto. I like the look of the "rear sight protector".

They were Smiths alright, you can tell by the shape of the trigger guards. Don't know what caliber, probably .45, from the size of the bores.

I thought the movie was great, I was distressed that I couldn't identify most of the guns used except the more common ones. I need to read more. I felt washingtons chain gun cha-cha was a little overdone at the end but still amusing:)

They kind of looked like S&W 4506's, one of the most underrated 45's going if you dont mind lugging around 5lbs each. He also had a Glock during the bedroom scene, with chrome slide and a 1911 somewhere in there, in the car. Ethan carried the LA traditional Beretta 92FS... Movie was good entertainment, but was kind of negative towards police... Stay Safe

I really enjoyed the movie, even though it was a little (a lot) over done in parts. But hey, it's just entertainment. I'd see it again, even.

Yes, they are S&W 4506s, with adjustable sights. I am told that LAPD permits this model for carry, in lieu of the Beretta 92FS. I do not know if this claim is valid, but my source is reliable.

As for the film itself, well, it does not do any favors for law enforcement. We are a long way from Jack Webb.

LAPD deserves to have favors done for them? Are you talking about the ones in prison for bribery, obstruction of justice and perjury? Or the ones working still after domestic violence convictions? Does Mr. Webb know about this?

LAPD rivals Chicago for corruption. More laws, less justice.

As long as I have been following TFL, there has been a steady stream of anti-law enforcement attitudes displayed on the board. Yes, it is easy to slam corrupt cops and arrogant officials of one stripe or another, but we are in this situation together. As the forces of darkness descend even further into our daily lives, good people need each other to fight back. That number includes decent LEOs as well as law-abiding citizens who are willing to work to protect our communities. Taking a reactionary and angry stance against your legally-appointed officials is the stuff of slackers and whiners. Let us hold our office holders accountable without giving in to the anger and fear. Emotion has no place if reason and justice are to prevail.

As for the film, these things matter because they play on the emotions of people everywhere. After all, American films enjoy a world-wide audience. The film in question is yet another ridiculous Hollywood creation that plays to our worst fears, exploiting them for the sake of a dollar---a dollar no doubt that will be spent on drugs and hookers. Art does not give them license to slam America as it does. That opinion is just mine. Yours, of course, may vary.

Jack Webb may be hokey now, but he believed in a higher standard of community and service to one's country that is lost. God Save the Republic.

The film is a quasi-documentary based on the evil exploits of the legally-appointed officials in LA who obstructed justice, framed innocent individuals, accepted bribes and committed perjury. These officials were called the police. Would Mr. Webb concur with this high standard of police conduct?

Police are not Platonic Guardians sheparding us around like sheep (well, maybe in New York, Massachusetts or New Jersey). The police have no duty to protect anyone. The police do not work to protect anyone. They are agents of the government.

I refuse to surrender my right to criticize my government--not because of someone's whimpering fear of "evil" and not because I want to be on the winning team and go in for the big score.
