Hey guys
I'm trying to get myself a new gun. Since I've been carrying literally a heavy cannon. I have some specs I want but I can't find a good gun at an affordable price.

Was looking at the Wilson combat cbq carry but new it's 2,850$ a shop here has a used one for 1,900$ only 100 rounds through it.

Here are my specs
USA or German or Italy made only please.
Under 2lbs loaded
7 rounds is ok prefer 10 or more
I have 15 round now!
1911 platform
.45
Dual action
3" barrel
No more overal length than 3.5"-4"
1" - 1.5" thick
Decent finish
Modified internal satey would be nice but have yet to see a 1911 with one!
Comfortable grip checkered is nice
One that has marketable upgrades for interchangable grips lasers and sights
Affordable cost 1,200$ or less!

Not too picky right?
Thanks guys
Louis

Internal safeties only .....cross all the 1911's off your list ...

Under $ 1,200 ....cross anything from Wilson Combat off your list ...unless its really been rode hard and put away wet ....

I think Wilson Combat makes some of the finest 1911's in the business / and that gun you found for $ 1,900 is a very good deal. Forget the 15 round capacity issues, the internal frame nonsense ....and go with that Wilson ...and don't look back...you'll thank me after you've put about 20 boxes thru it and love it :D

What he said in the post above. If not a Wilson then a Baer :D & $1900 is a pretty good deal on a used to almost new CQB compact btw.

What's "dual action"? Double action, as in trigger-cocking from hammer down? Scratch any/all 1911s off the list. Just about every 1911 maker offers a version with 3" barrel and alloy frame, so that aspect of length/weight is well covered. If you really want double action, with no external, manual safety, and you'd be satisfied with something sort of like a 1911, check out the Colt Double Eagle. This gun was not a commercial success, but those who actually own them appear to think highly of them. Used, you should be able to find one in excellent condition for less than $700.

I've followed DE auctions for a month or more, and sellers value these pistols much more highly than bidders. Lots of sellers are asking $700-$900 for them, but I rarely see bids over $600.

The only one that comes to mind is a Para Ordance but I'm unsure if they make on in 3" barrel and are less than 2lb. I do know that they make a DA 1911 and they make single and double stacked models. I'm not sure how good they are, I've never shot one but that seems to fit most of what your looking for along with price.

Glocks are Austrian and XDs are Croatian, so you've scratched two great guns that would otherwise fit your description, assuming you went with the compact versions. You want no external safeties which I can appreciate. That eliminates ALOT of guns. (You know that you can just always leave it OFF unless it's SAO gun.) Based on what you are looking for in terms of features and want something light (IMHO 2lbs isn't really light), I would recommend you checkout the Kahr line-up of pistols. The only other thing that comes to mind is the S&W M&P or some revolvers.

Edit: Sorry skipped the part about having to be a 1911 too.

Based on your description go buy any highend 1911. Try a commanded size or compact. Look at the SA products. (Who cares where the frame is made?) They make good guns at realistic prices. Good luck. Lastly, if you want higher capacity then get a 9mm model. Checkout the Wilson Spec-Ops9 and NightHawk LadyHawk.

I don't hate on glocks
I love em.. To me that's German but Austrian ok
I carry a glock model 22 40cal
It's have big and oblong. Dot like it as a carry gun no more. I am more educated. I got my wife a glock sub compact g26 9mm for her carry weapon.

I will check out some of the guns listed. I've always admired the 1911 platform as does everyone else.
There is a reason for that..
Khar arms are nice guns
But not really for me. I don't appreciate their field strip methods. Not practical in the street or desert.
That Wilson combat is a double action
.45
3" barrel
2lbs
1.3" thick
Nice finish
But 1,900$
My wife says I know how to spend our money instead if saving it always
So I doubt shell let me spring $700 more than my budget of 1,200$
I have medical problems where I need a really lightweight gun for my hip.

How is the Kahr fieldstrip procedure not practical?

A few million Austrians (including a CA gov) would beg to differ about being German.

If you watch the field strip video.. there is a slide stop PIN instead of my glock two button system, and "index marks" that always have to be aligned. plus they suggest the use of a screw driver..

IDK, All I know is Austria the German Government and the Black Hand, and Germans and Jews fled from Germany to Austria during WW2 to avoid Hitler.. But whatever, they are their own country I was jsut typing on my iPhoone garbage pile of dump ;)

They make a great gun, I always compare guns to my G22, its jsut a great, reliable awesome gun that is extremely affordable and loves 98% of ammo.

However I like to be different.. lol.

I jsut bought 3 mags... Guns And Ammo, COmbat Handguns and Handgunner.

I dont usually rely on advertisements... but I can see the "shiny" options...
Do a bit more dumb research. That Wilson I'll take a look tomorrow.
Is calling me, its on the cover of one of these mags, its a G-Note cheaper, and the dude moved his store to the same complex 3 doors down from where my old office used to be..

Kahr's take down of their smallest PM45 .45 carry 3" pistol.
http://www.kahr.com/download/dtlmov_takedown-p.html

I jst got to thinking..
The Wilson is 7.3" long and the glock is 7.5" long
The glock is 1.18" think and the wilson is 1.30" think
the glock weighs less loaded than the wilson..
Thats comparative to my glock G22 full size .40

so where is my advantage in this, other than spending 1,900.00$ plus tax.

There is always the
Beretta PX4 Storm Sub Compact

Misses a few key points.. lol
But I'd prob get the 9MM version
13 round clip, super small, looks good, super accurate for a "pocket pistol"

There is also the internal safety Ruger SR9C This one has a factory 10 round mag, and an additional mag that can hold 17 rounds and makes a full 9MM grip. Very nice gun. Most people I talk to are really happy with Ruger, and this is a very affordable option. I don;t think my wallet is ready for a 1911 yet, why are they so damn expensive? I can get a NEW glock 17 and a Gun Crafter drop in .50 cal / 9MM kit and spend 500$ less than the average 1911!

Have you checked out Colt's New Agent in either .45ACP or 9mm?

Colt_9mmNewAgentDA071_LT.jpg

The .45 ACP New Agent (07810DA) uses a lightweight Aluminum alloy frame (24oz empty), 3-inch barrel, DAO firing system which negates the need for an external safety or a grip safety. It comes close to your specs, being 4"h x 6"L x 13/16"W. The magazine holds 7 rounds. Sights are a rear "trough" with a small front blade to make the draw snag-free and speed deployment. Some practice with these sights may be necessary for accurate shooting. MSRP is around $885.

You can buy brand new Sig 1911's all day long for less than $1200. Stainless retails for less than $1200. The C3 meets all your requirements with the exception of overall length (7.7") and barrel length (4.2") and comes with rosewood grips and night sights from the factory. 1911's don't have DA triggers. They're SAO. If it's DAO, it's not a 1911.

Surprised that no one has suggested the Kimber Ultra Carry II. It meets pretty much all of your requirements and it's a great little gun.

There is also the KIMBER ULTRA CARRY II TLE

Badd azzz gun...

I think all your original requirements pretty much contradict each other.

Best of luck to you tho.

There is also the KIMBER ULTRA CARRY II TLE

Badd azzz gun...
I find this comical.
You do realize that, that Kimber fits pretty much none of you of your original criteria.

I beg your pardon but the Wilson Combat CQB is not a double action pistol.

If I had to find "something" that fit most of your needs I would say the HK USP 45C

You don't need a screwdriver/punch to field strip a Kahr.

I think you should just get another Glock because (they are good guns and) you seemingly compare everything else to them (with the new gun never measuring up.)

If you want something different.....then it's going to have to BE different.

FWIW the little takedown switches on the Glock are IMHO one of the designs weak (not physically) points.

Other suggestions:
Walther PPS (similar size to the Kahrs but uniquely different)
Springfield Armory EMP (or other 1911 as mentioned by others)
Beretta PX4 -SC (Fugly looking but very ergonomic)
Springfield Armory XD-SC (IMHO too similar to what you own)
Smith & Wesson Revolver (try the larger Nightguards instead of the j-frames)
Sig Sauer P238 (or better an original Colt Pocketlite)
Ruger LCP (smaller than your wallet, never a reason not to carry it)

I know that many of those are very different from what you had in mind but variety isn't a bad thing in a gun collection.
