Al Gore will require gun manufacturers and federally-licensed sellers to report gun sales to a state authority. He will also support the development of "supertracing" technology.
Hey, this sounds a lot like registration. Registration is the neccessary precursor to confiscation. Confiscation has always led to tyranny, and often to genocide. Saying "It can't happen here" is whistling past the graveyard of history.
Ban Concealed Weapons from Houses of Worship
Al Gore supports banning concealed weapons in houses of worship to protect worshipers and make police officers' jobs easier.
A few concealed weapons would have protected the worshippers in that Fort Worth Baptist church a touch better than some feel good legislation that is aimed squarely at the soccer-mom set. And explain to me how no guns in church makes cops' jobs easier.
Oppose Weakening Restrictions on Concealed Weapons
Al Gore will oppose efforts to loosen existing limits on concealed weapons.
Oh, you mean like the "shall-issue" CCW laws that every gun owner everywhere has been pleading for? Like the ones that the daughter of the elderly couple slaughtered in the Luby's massacre who testified before the Texas state house begged for?
Require Photo Licensing for Handgun Purchases
Al Gore will seek a nationally mandated, state-run system of photo licensing for all potential handgun purchasers. The photo licensing would also keep guns away from children who are not old enough to own or possess a handgun.
A license is government permission to do that which would otherwise be illegal. How does Al think he gets the power to license a right? Oh, now I remember: Clinton/Gore don't believe the Second Amendment applies to you. Only the other Nine, and then only when it's convenient for them.
Ban "Junk Guns"
Al Gore believes that we should ban so-called "junk guns," the cheap handguns so often used in violent crimes.
In other words, unless you have the scratch to get a high-dollar Glock, Sig, HK, Colt, etc. to protect you and your family, you don't have a right to self-defense.
Limit Gun Sales to One-a-Month and Require a Three-Day Waiting Period for Purchases
Well, it's one-a-month for now. Maybe one-every-two-months in a year or two. Maybe less. And no one has ever proven to me that waiting periods save lives, but they certainly have cost lives, like in the case of the California woman who tried to buy a gun after receiving credible threats from her ex-husband but no protection from the cops. When she bought a gun, she wasn't allowed to take it home right away, and her ex stabbed her to death with a few days to go on her waiting period.
Close the Gun Show Loophole
There is no gun show loophole. This is another case of us letting the liberals shape the terms of the debate, like the definition of "is." People at gun shows make private transactions just like when I put an ad in the paper and sold my rifle to the guy who called. No dealers are doing business without background checks at gun shows. The promoters would shut them down, and undercover ATF agents would score an easy arrest.

Yes, special protection from legislation by litigation. Protection for all of us. Colt has stopped civilian sales because of these lawsuits. Maybe this is the result Gore wants from all firearms manufacturers.
Require Child-Safety Locks on Hand Guns
Did anyone see how long it took Perris Glendenning, Governor of Maryland, to get the trigger lock off the pistol he had at the announcement that he had just signed a law requiring storage of handguns with a lock just like that one? It took him more than two minutes to get it unlocked. Are you willing to give a bad guy who comes into your house a two minute head start?
Raising the Minimum Age for Guns
Al Gore would fight to raise the minimum age to possess a handgun from 18 to 21.
Gore is eager to send America's 18 year olds overseas to protect Kosovars and East Timorese, but he doesn't want those 18 year olds to be able to protect themselves and their families at home.
Zero Tolerance for Guns in Schools
Imagine what a few armed teachers could have done at Columbine, while the SWAT team stood outside for 45 minutes. How many kids could have been saved? I mean, it's for the children, right?
