What goes on record when you buy a Handgun?

I am not sure what goes on the record when you buy a handgun in California. I have read through the laws, but none of the things I have read, as far as I have seen say what the record keeps. I know there is the background check. Beleive me, I know about that. But what else? Here is an example: If I buy a handgun, and the state gets away with banning handguns, will they know that I have one?

Not sure about the state, but Federally, after 30 days, only the FFL should have a record of the sale. The FBI is not supposed to keep record of the background checks after 30 days. The FFL must maintain his/her records for 20 years. If he/she goes out of business before that time, the records are to be turned into the ATF. Some states may violate your rights and keep their own records, however.

All right, both of you, that's enough. No one needs to ask or answer that question. We are here for your protection and benefit. Your discussion of this topic has been added to your records in our files.

To have asked the question in the first place should be enough to answer your entire question.

Shall we assume that those that make the laws also have to adhere to them? It is clearly evident that our current government does NOT do what they are supposed to do. If you have a few hours, I'll give you some examples.

The moral of this story is...when in doubt, get out. Purchase ALL of your firearms through private parties and use CASH! When you trust a government that has proven to be untrustworthy, you should expect that all of your worst fears WILL come true.

The law states...... In N.C. to buy a pistol you must purchase a permit from the local sherif. A complete record check is instituted. Once you pass (3-5 days) you can buy a permit (hint buy several). When you select the "gun of your dreams" you must turn in the permit. The FFL takes that and fills out the little yellow form and keeps it. Problem is since we in the state of N.C. (First in freedom) have so much militia activity we need special task forces and that the ATF can show up at your doorstep at any point to look at each and every record for the past 6 years (see my post of a couple of weeks ago) there is no freakin limit on information. They've got you by the proverbial testicals or teats! I have a friend who is has a FFL and handles most of my transactions who said he'd burn his before he got them, but that's not realistic when they pull suprise visits. I'm not sure what the limit is on record retention with firearms, but if they want to find out what you've got they can do it, after all they are hiring 6 or 700 more agents to accomplish this! This sounds like a job for the Tyranny Response Team. Break into gunshops and burn the yellow forms. Yeah, it's just a fantasy, Oh,Oh,Oh, it's not the real thing...... (Billy Joel) Be advised that no one with any sense would dare do such an illegal act. It's against the LAW!
