What fixes/pro gun reforms are most important to you? Buckeye Firearms input request.

Maybe the acceptance of a definition for "assault weapon" stating that a weapon can only classify for an "assault weapon" if it is fully automatic and therefore covered by the NFA. I'm sick and freakin tired of all these bullsh*t AW bans the anti-gun crowd pushes. They do it just because military style rifles are an easy target for them. If you word it right a bill like that just might pass cause the anti gun crown is so gun ignorant they'd think it was great.

Just a thought/suggestion

At the state level, pass legislation requiring any governmental office or private business open to the public which prohibits concealed carry on the premises to provide secure storage lockers at each entrance for members of the public to secure their weapons in while on the premises. Then pass legislation providing that any such governmental agency or business which prohibits concealed carry to be strictly liable for any injury to any visitor to the premises which could conceivably have been prevented or mitigated by a concealed weapon, whether or not the visitor had a concealed weapons permit.

Pass these laws and sit back and watch the "no handguns" signs disappear all over the state! :D:D:D

Here are a few.

1. Require that gun free zones are accompanied by a responsibility, and liability on behalf of the regulating authority for the safety of the disarmed.

2. Any and all cosmetic or auxiliary features unrelated to the lethality of the weapons are off the table as a policy choice.

3. Any and all features, such as magazine bans, that are related to the lethality of the weapons, except fully automatic fire, are off the table as a policy choice.

4. Re-open the registration for fully automatic weapons, but devise a level of training, annual or bi-annual proficiency qualification, safe storage requirement, and security clearance, that is appropriate to the ownership of these weapons. In other words, raise the bar, but don't make it impossible to own them.

Thanks for the input MP, We are working hard on several fix it bills and a sweeping Alaska bill "HB129" as I type this. THanks for your support!

Update: see story

Representative Adams introduces HB129: Alaska-style CCW

By Jim Irvine

Representative John Adams (R-78) of Sidney, Ohio has introduced House Bill 129. The bill is identical to Adam's HB225 from 2007, and substantially similar to HB91 from 2005 and HB559 from 2004, the latter two having been sponsored by Representative Tom Brinkman. HB129 would repeal many of the onerous provisions of our current concealed carry law and allow law abiding citizens to carry concealed without a license.

Alaska-style CCW is an exciting possibility for gun owners in Ohio. It shows Rep. Adams is in touch with the most conservative of the gun owner base/constituency.

This will probably never fly but...

1) Do away with the current system of regulating fully automatic weapons entirely. (Tax stamps and Hughes ammd. included)

2) In place of aforementioned system allow manufacture and sale of full autos in the US, instead of tax stamp for each individual weapon have a federal permit that must be applied for (kind of like a CCW except w/ Uncle Sam instead of state).
