What *exactly* do I need to de-bill board my Ruger?

I have a Stainless Super Blackhawk I want to pretty up, what do I need? I know what to do(thanks to bullrock), but I'm not sure what dremel bits I need. I have the Dremel, but I don't have ANY bits(just polishing stuffs..)...

Any help appreciated!

Patience. Go too fast and you're going to mess things up unless you really know what you're doing.

Practice on something else first (something less valuable) and when you feel like you've got it down then do the gun. If you get tired stop and start again another day.

Generally my advice about Dremels and Gunsmithing is this: "When you pick up a Dremel, forget you own guns. When you pick up a firearm, forget you own a Dremel."

BTW, be ready to do a lot of cleaning to get all the polishing dust out of the nooks and crannies of your pistol.

+1 Dremels and straight or flat surfaces do NOT go together! If you are trying to maintain a straight or flat surface, would suggest using small wooden sanding block wrapped with progressively finer grades of high quality abrasive cloth.

Good shooting and be safe.

ps: Be sure you know when to stop and what will be required to match the finish on remainder of pistol.

I used a Black & Decker Mouse detail sander. It is like hand sanding without the fatigue.

Note that according to Ruger Inc., you will be voiding your "warranty." IOW, they will charge you for work on such a cosmetically changed revolver presumably because you are exposing them to future lawsuits from a subsequent buyer who didn't READ THE MANUAL AVAILABLE FROM STURM, RUGER & CO., SOUTHPORT CONN.

I did it and could care less if I have avoided Ruger's repair service for my GP that always works.

Jon, Dremel has a kit you can purchase for either $19, or $29. It is the 698 Mega Accessories Kit. The dremel heads are marked according to catagory. Grinding, engraving, sanding, polishing. The tools are all color coded.

As you know, I did the work on my gun starting with the wide flat grinding tool (orange). After all the trash talk was off, I used the light sanding tool (purple), then several of the polishing tools(yellow). Wipe your gun down after every session. Take it outside, and use an Air Blaster to get the junk out of all the nooks and crannies.

You know the rest.... ;) :D

Good Luck

If you feel like spending the money you can send it off to fordsguns and they will get rid of it.....they do all the P7 mill marks on the refurbs by shaving the slide down, then re-engraving all the numbers and such....
