What elite groups uses SIG 220?

Anybody know if any do? If not, why not? I've seen 1911, HK, SIG 226, and Beretta 92 used but no SIG 220.

I saw a dectective in Birmingham with one in his holster last week. I asked, "Is that a Sig 220?"

"Sure is!" he said proudly.

I said, "You must be the envy of your department."

"I don't know about that", he said, trying to sound modest, "But I like it a lot!"

A few of the Sultan of Brunei's bodyguards have been sighted carrying the Browning BDA - the earlier version of the Sig Sauer P220 .45 autopistol marketed in the US during the early 80s.

P220's are well in evidence at Fort Bragg, NC. Unlike the SEAL's, the Army doesn't talk about it (becasue they have a mission). If you go to Sigarms Academy, there are areas segregated from the "civilian" training areas, and once could surmise that some of the units HQ'd at Ft. Bragg are going there for training and practice.

I shoot with some Dept. of Energy couriers who always have a Sig P220, I'm pretty sure it's their handgun when they are on the road.

"Elite groups."

Depends on how widely you define that label.

I assume, of course, you don't mean Mall Ninjas or casino security guards, otherwise we'd have to bring HKs into the discussion. :D Anyway, I've seen some metro park rangers in my area carrying Sig 220s, but only the seniors feeding the squirrels would consider them "elite."

I'm with RWK, the guy has 2,700 post and never had an ill word or argument with anybody that I've seen. Thats gotta be more "elite" than any of that Navy Seal/HRT junk.

RWK and Blue Duck 357 Hello, and many thanks for
the kind word's. Granted, there are a lot of member's
here with more experience and intelligence than I will
ever have; but I like coming to Rich's website to offer
my own opinion's, thought's, and to share some of
my experience's with the fine membership here at
TFL. I must admit, I'm very partial to certain firearm's;
mostly Sig's; but I have been fortunate enough to own
and try quite a wide variety of handgun's. And with that
said, if I can help just one person to make a good, wise,
or otherwise safe decision; I will feel most happy with
myself. As most of you know, I work a full time job
five days a week; but, I always strive to find time
to come here and help my fellow colleague's with
firearm's related issue's. I feel it's my obligation
to do such; and I promise I won't let you fine folk's
down. If in the mean time, I can be of any assistance
to any member here; I offer an open invitation for you
to contact me either here at TFL, or privately at my
e-mail address: dford9@bellsouth.net Thanks for
putting up with me, and I'm looking forward to hearing
from you all.

May GOD bless you and your's,

Pbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbffffffffffffft. :D:

SEALs talk about their weapons and missions, and the fellers at FT. BRAGG don't because they're on a mission.Somethings never cease to amaze me, that are brought to light on TFL!
