What does your workspace looks like?

Here is mine... Of course that revolver goes right back in the drawer when I step out, but during my computer-working hours it's right there and every time I stand up for something I can do some dry firing for practice... I also noticed that visitors have been a lot more polite lately! :D (just kidding)

That wouldn't work for me. I often get very angry at my computer and I would constantly be replacing it and patching holes in the desk.

Yes, I hear you! That's why I don't keep it loaded. I have no problem with my computer, but some of those visitors I mentioned above... I just don't know... ;)

keep in mind that this is a firearms related resource... keep discussion and pics firearms related...

I suffer from FSTS. Looks like you don't.
(FSTS = flat surface tool syndrome)
Which means any flat surface, must or will, be covered with tools...

Please feel free to close this tread if you find the content of it is not suited for the professional level of this forum. I apologize in advance. Thank you.

As long as the "gun related" aspect is maintained... I reckon it is good to go but the moderator assigned this section could feel different about it...

I can't participate in the thread as no guns are present and I do suffer the FSTS and had to move wire strippers to a lesser used section of desk to make some mouse room...

Lets re-read the thread title. "What does your WORKSPACE looks like?"

And that is a gun I see in the picture. What kind and caliber is it ? I do like the stainless and the wood grips.

If it sits empty on your desk, it may not be very useful for self-defense. If that moment of need should arise, as likely as not, you won't have time to load it.

Humorously enough, after we moved all of our stuff out of Dallas, I was back in our empty apartment finalizing a few things, including the last of the "telecommuting" part of my old job as a bar manager. I set this up to finish.

The Glock was (and is) loaded.
The M1 on the computer wallpaper was (and is) not...

Let me take it one step back and answer some questions along the way :)

This is my S&W 66 with 6" barrel. It sits on my desk unloaded (loaded with caps, actually) because I use it for dry firing every time I have a few minutes to spare. The reason I use to to dry fire is to practice target shooting. Since I don't really expect anyone to brake into my home office, located in the nice neighborhood in the middle of the day I don't really need a loaded gun. I just thought the view of my work desk is kind of funny and revolver lovers will dig it, that's why I took this picture.

P.S. And the desk is clean due to a very mild case of OCD I suffer... or enjoy rather... :D

"Since I don't really expect anyone to brake into my home office, located in the nice neighborhood in the middle of the day I don't really need a loaded gun."

Not to pick on you about this, just to give you some perspective...

Break-ins and other bad things happen ROUTINELY in nice neighborhoods, in the middle of the day. Just a few weeks ago, an acquaintance of mine was held up at gun point in the middle of day, just down the road from me, in a very nice neighborhood. Two of my co-workers have had home invasions in the middle of the day. They live in nice neighborhoods not far from here. A neighbor just five houses down the street from me had her home ransacked and burglarized, in the middle of the day. These are nice white-collar homes. I could keep going, but you get the point.

If you like keeping your revolver unloaded for dry-fire practice, maybe this is a good reason to get another gun, perhaps a little more compact, that you keep loaded and concealed, preferably on your person, but at least readily accessible at all times.

What's the benefit of all that practice, if the gun isn't ready for use when you need it?

This is defined as "condition white." It's okay, everyone lives their own life as they see fit and everyone takes their own journey. But make a short mental note -- as this conversation may stand out one day upon reflection.

Ouch, tough crowd! Suddenly I feel like everyone except me is sitting at their desk with a loaded gun in the right hand and a grenade in the back pocket for a good measure

P.S. I am not 100% sure, but I think I just "accidentally" bought a .44 Magnum. Proves that you never know what may happen to you while you are in "condition white". Perhaps I'll keep that one loaded, just in case... :D

Well, yeah.

Booze+interwebs?;) I had a friend a few years back tippled a bit and bought a motorcycle off eBay. It was in Wisconsin, he was in Dallas:eek:. I think he still has it.
Just kidding BTW, not actually accusing you of anything, mind you. My buddy really did buy the bike, tho...

No, I don't keep a grenade in my back pocket...too lumpy.

But yes, I always have a loaded gun on my person, either IWB or pocket, or both. I carry 24/7, even (especially) at home, since I have had two attempted home invasions, each time with somebody home. We live in the "nice" part of town.

I don't expect to be in a car accident, but I also always wear my seat belt, nevertheless.

Yeah, tough crowd, I guess...we're just trying to encourage you in the right direction. Several of my friends have recently received their CCW Permit, but a few of them are reluctant to actually carry. They get regular grief from the rest of us. :p

Hope you enjoy your new 44 magnum! Show us some pics when you get a chance.

OK, this is just.... odd.

It never really was about revolvers, and it's barely about guns.

I think if asked in a more focused way, and in the correct forum, it would fly.

But, I'm grounding this one.
