What does this stock belong to?

Hi all!

I was helping my father-in-law clean up around his shop and discovered a stock leaning up against his work bench. I asked him what he wanted to do with it and he said 'You take it. My uncle had a 7mm Mauser & 8mm Mauser and that no one really knows what happened to them. It could be the stock from one of them. Other than that, I have NO clue what it belongs to.'

In a quest to learn more about the inner workings of guns, i'd like to try to get something put together using this stock. Hopefully, someone on here and either give me a little more information, identify it, or point me in a new direction to help me on my quest.

From the research i've done, it looks like it's a Mauser Large Ring stock based on the measurement between the action screws (7 7/8") and the shape of the mag well. That lead me to searching Google for Mauser large ring stocks and I stumbled across the Venezuelan M24/30. It's the closest thing I found that looks like what I have.

I've attached a collage of pictures showing markings on the gun and different views of things. I'd also like to mention that stamped on the side of the stock is what looks like "L8122".

Knowing my luck, it's the stock from a 30-06 bought at Dicks Sporting Goods, but it never hurts to get some insight from people who know more than you.

I guess along with trying to identify what the stock belongs to, it brings up a few more questions...

1) Is the stock caliber specific based on the mag well size?
2) How hard would it actually be for someone who is good with their hands & can follow directions to put a rifle together using the stock?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out!
