What do you want in a pistol? A revolver?

Pistols:

If Glocks had restrike capabilities, I'd be really happy.

Revolvers:

If Smiths made K, L, and N frames with fixed sights, I'd really be happy. A 3" Mod 60 (.357) w/out adjustable sights would tickle me pink too. No hammer locks either.

I'm pretty easy. What would you want in a pistol or revolver?

6forsure : As best I can see from their catalog - S&W does offer all the things you wanted - except for the N-frame with fixed sights. (Don't know about the Glocks.)

Me: In order of preference
Reliability
Ergonomic fit (points well for me)
Accuracy

Pistol:
Reliable + fits my hand + slim + tough + DA/SA + affordable + cheap to feed + plentiful and cheap parts = Pistolet Makarova

So many pistols, so little money.

Are they offering L-frames with fixed sights? I know they have the Mod 65 and Mod 10 K-frames. I'll need to look and see if the Mod 60 has a 3" fixed sight model; I thought the 3" J-frames came with adjustables..

S&W has at one time offered the K, L, and N frames with fixed sights, but they're increasingly hard to find (and will probably be more so since I don't know anyone that will buy an S&W made after 17 Mar 00).

6forsure, look for a model 10, 13, 64 or 65 (K frame fixed sight); a 581 or 681 or the new titanium 296 (L frame fixed sight); or a model 58 (N-frame fixed sight .41 Mag that will be the rarest of all these).

Also, the Model 36 (blued Chief's Special) used to be available with fixed sights and 3-inch HB; I had one and foolishly sold it years ago.

There have been Centennial hammerless j frames with 3 " barrels.

L frames exist with fixed sights - the 681
if I recall. It's in Supica's book.

Anyhow - if it is a new SW - forget it.

the 681 can be found although they arent easy to find ,,,,theres one near me, that just recently appeared......fubsy.

In a revolver?
A detachable magazine.

I would like a Semi-Auto in .45 colt that was as reliable as a revolver and had a 30 round mag, could shoot bowling pins at 50 yards (when downed!)in Nickel plate! (Alright Punks come at get me!)

That is not currently -or has ever to my knowledge -been mass produced so I must say I like my Wienrach made .45 colt SAA...

I also love my 9 mili's Ruger, Walther ect..never had a hitch with good mags and FMJ...

For real life situations G-D help us keep those Semi's at the prime functioning angle and feeding smoothly....

In short I can't make up my mind!

Peace
IZZY

A 5 shot stainless hideout revolver in 45acp (ala centennial).

A repro. Colt Lightning in Double Action and 45 Colt.

a ten shot 45 that doesn't feel like you are gripping a brick

FEG of Hungary to start making milspec 1911's

The return of the "real" Automag in stainless of course.

newly manufactured C-96 mauser with modern metallurgy.

Its a short wish list, but a guy can dream right?

What do I want in a pistol? Why, ammunition, of course! :)

Seriously, reliablity is paramount, followed by accuracy, capacity, ergonomics, and CQ (Cool Quotient), in roughly that order.

In a pistol: A 1911.

In a revolver: S&W .357s and Ruger .44s are ideal. The S&W .44s are pretty sweet if you steer away from the really powereful loads.

Absolute bombproof reliability, low bore axis, and a nice, short, crisp trigger, 3.5 to 4.5 pounds.

Aside from that, everything else is frosting.

cruise control, CD player, convertible top... wait, where am I?
smart, funny, rich, attractive, busty brunette, green eyes, preferably in her 20s... d'oh
I'd like a full lug 3 inch .357 with adjustable night sights, rounded grip, bobbed hammer, one of those nifty tiny laser sights that fit on the grip, removable cylinder, purple finish, "BMF" inscribed on the barrel, weight less than 15 oz that wouldn't break my wrist every time I shot it. Oh, and I'd like a ribbed barrel with a pulsing red light ala knightrider. When I grab it, the gun should say, "Hello Mr. Dumond, what would you like to destroy today?"
... and yes, I'd like fries with that.

Neat, how about belt fed?

My wish list for new revolver offerings (from Taurus, since S&W has gone over to the Dark Side of the Force :mad :):

1) All of the mid-frame revolvers (e.g., the 445) should be available with 3" unported barrels. Hint: look at the Rossi 720. Snubby barrels are for pocket guns, which means a small, lightweight frame. A handgun big enough to need a holster should have a barrel long enough to anchor it in the holster, IMHO.

2) The model 85UL should be offered in a Centennial-style, internal (not just bobbed) hammer design.

3) A version of #1 in .45 ACP.
