What do you think of the NEW MKIII Ruger?

I see, read and hear many negative things on the new Ruger 22 MKIII. Is Ruger simply having troubles with a new model teething? As an aside, how many hands are needed to actually assemble a MKIII properly AFTER disassembly. The insert magazine, remove magazine steps are well, odd for my way of thinking. Is a MKIII a Chinese puzzle box or a pistol? What do you think?
 
The one big problem , the chambered round indicater, has been redesigned .Lawyers shouldn't design guns ! :mad:
 
I'm just glad I have four MKII's.

Even if the LCI has the bugs worked out of it, I still don't want or need it sticking out of my gun. I do not want to train anyone to use a gun with a LCI. I train people to check the chamber. That simple check does away with the LCI and the magazine safety. It is still the only way to insure you are holding an unloaded gun. No mechanical device can make up for ignorant gun handling.

Perhaps when these crutches that people learn to depend on, begin to fail, the gunmakers will realize that they have made themselves liable by replacing safety training with their lawyer inspired devices. When cars did not have airbags, carmakers did not have to go to court because of airbag failure. Now that cars have airbags, when they fail, the auto industry has to have a team of lawyers to defend their interests. Personally, I think the lawyers establish the perceived need of said safety device in the minds of the product manufacturer, knowing that when it fails the lawyers will make even more money in court. The stupid, short sighted manufacturers fall right into the trap.

I have a new mkIII 22/45. After hearing of the LCI problem I simply removed mine. Ruger is still working on a sound LCI replacement and told me they will ship me one when the bugs are worked out.

If I use ONLY Thunderbolts, it works fine. Otherwise I have serious feeding problems, especially with 'hollowpoints'. The feed ramp cuts right into the nose of the bullet. Ruger sent me a new bolt and two mags, but didn't fix the problem.

Otherwise it's been decent. With the red dot, my friends and their kids like to shoot it.
 
I have a ruger mkII and have the same problem with hollow points slaming into
the bottom of the feed ramp, the problem I found whith the hollow points
is the cartridge overall length is shorther that other types of 22lr. When
loaded into the magazine they do not stack at the proper angle. I got bored one day took a spare magazine and made a new follwer that was smaller in length, (front of mag to rear) I put a thin shim the length of the magazine inside that would force the cartridges to angle up more. After that I never had problem with the hollow points. Probably not worth the trouble with
the price of other 22 ammo that works in the original magazines. I just wanted to see if I could make the hollow points work.
