What do you paint your sight with?

I have a stainless revolver. I would like to paint the front sight to make it more visible. I was thinking about a sharpie, but what works best?

I've used nail polish for sight paint with very good results. That said, I use a sharpie on the S&W 638 that I carry although I have to reapply it often.

I have tried nail polish on a 30 30 once it was a bright orange color. the day after I aplied it it was great. maby two week later in my soft case the color had darkened and the sights was no better then the original steel color. so I scooped it :)

Carbon black

Believe it or not, when I'm shooting serious target, I use an old carbide miner's lamp and "smoke" the sights. It doesn't last long, but the soot is a totally dead black with absolutely zero reflection and allows for great sight alignment.

mine eyes.....

My GP's (and Redhawks) wear the orange-ramp front blade from Millett; outstanding, even in low-light conditions.

I am currently testing Testors fluorescent model paint on my Witnesses and one 1911; best results so far with the yellow/green. Excellent in sunlight.
Proving to be very durable.
I'll be shooting my 40 Witness tomorrow (www.gmps.ws) with its front blade painted red (I bought the Testors six-pack).

I used to use Brightsights sight paint but I just got tired of the f*#^#&*g bottle.

Painting SS Front sight

I use FINGER NAIL POLISH.
The catch there is that Finger Nail Polish is removable with alcohol and hoppies #9. Every time you clean you may need to repaint.

Alright, I'm a dork. I admit it.

And, since I can admit that, I can also admit that while I was painting minature figures for use in scale, table top battles I broke out my Mak and painted three little squares, two on the rear sight and one on the front.

Its held up now for almost a year. I should've primered the base metal to make it brighter, but it was a spur of the moment thing.

I believe I used "Goblin Green" from the Games Workshop.

If you go to sportsmans whse they have fishing jig paint for 2.99 a bottle. Get the good stuff and put on a base coat of white before you put on the bright color and it will work great. Cheap and it lasts forever

I used a cermaic mix paint that i pick up at michaels. It worked very well for the one gun I used it for. It was very bright and even stood up to gun scubber cleaner. If I can find the bottle I will give you the name.

If I see a front sight - I want to paint it black. No colors anymore I want to paint it black.

I use matt finish enamel.

Why dont I like colors? They flare and frizzle in the sunlight - that's why.

I find that White Out works very well for me. It dries to a flat finish and there is no glare. It does have to be re-applied after a good cleaning.

I've tried appliance touch-up, Testors, house paint, etc. but I almost always revert to White Out.
