what do you all carry in your P-32

just curious. My carry loadout is a magazine loaded with GoldDots and one Cor-bon in the chamber. I wish I could carry it loaded with all Cor-bons, but it rim-locks a little to often to feel comfortable. I have done a good bit of testing with the Gold-dots and have seldom had one expand very much (even in bare gelatin at as little as 2 yards)..penetration is quite good though. I figure a flat nose seldom expanding bullet has a better crush cavity than a round nose. I just wish they would load those little Gold-dots to a little closer to 1000fps...that would be a great carry load. Are you listening Pro-Load!?!

I hope this doesn't sound too gruesome, but I have decided to carry the Fiocchi FMJs because I plan on taking a head shot, if possible. If that's not an option for some reason, at least I should get pretty good penetration in the body.

Right now my P-32 is loaded with S&B 73 gr. FMJ. Sometimes I put a Cor-Bon in the chamber. Cor-Bons rim lock in my P-32, so I just try to load the mags with the heaviest FMJs I can get. FMJs have always worked perfectly in my P-32. Hollowpoints have not! I want to try Fiocchi FMJ sometime soon too.

Cor-Bons work fine in Thelma's P32. The trick to avoiding rim lock is load one round, tap the back of the mag on the edge of the table, load the next round, tap, etc. No failures through over 100 rounds of Cor-Bon.

Fiocchi .73 grain fmj's is all I carry in mine. It's a pretty hot round and I want ALL the penetration I can get out of the .32 round. I think a few rounds to the noggin or face is sure to be a deterrent.

Winchester Silver Tips.
Though it is an older round, the softer metals in the hp may give a chance of expansion.

They are cheaper per/50 than Hydra Shoks (which I also like) so I can shoot more.
They are dead bang feed relaible.

Silvertips for me, Gold Dots for the wife, as those have proven to be the most reliable and shoot closest to POA for each of our P32's. I also carry Fiocchi FMJ's or JHP's sometimes; they're pretty zippy. I had some hard primers on the Cor Bons I tried, and didn't especially care for the Federals (tho I don't remember why).

I don't have a P-32, but I have a CZ-70, which is also .32 ACP.

When I do carry it (infrequently) the ONLY thing I carry in it is hardball.

Simply put, penetration of the HP ammo in .32 is too damned iffy for comfort. Hardball will give the kind of consistent penetration that is needed to ensure getting deeply enough into the target to hit vital structures.

No, hardball in a .32 isn't a great thing. But it's a better thing, in my opinion, than a hollow point that doesn't get to where it needs to go.

Something you guys might find interesting.
In a recent round of testing I was getting from 10-13 inches of penetration on lightly clothed gelatin at 5 yards using Fiocchi S-JHP and Gold-Dots. Various FMJ loads turned in around 11-14 inches of penetration. Neither the Fiocchi or Gold-dot HP's expanded (only deformed slightly) but the volume of the crush cavity was 3 times larger than the FMJ's. The FMJ's gave about one inch more penetration, but the cavities were bb size..the HP cavities were bullet diameter untill the last 2 inches or so.
IMHO even an unexpanded HP beats a FMJ (ofcource, use what feed best) due to its flat nose profile. Penetration of the gold-dot and Fiocchi HP's is practicly the same as FMJ's.

CorBon presently but considering "FRANGIBLES"

I've spent a good deal of money on CorBon 60 gr JHP to see if it consistently cycles in my P32. IT DOES. However, when I manually feed/eject rounds by racking the slide, I will get on occasional rimlock. Anybody know why? All I know is you DO NOT want a rimlock anytime; that is one of the more time-consuming and difficult jams to clear. I have heard that CorBon has lengthened the overall size of their .32 ACP round to prevent rimlock. How can you tell if you've got an older short round or the longer improved round??

I have also shot Winchester Silvertips and Fiocchi 73 gr FMJ's and the P32 likes them all.

What do you think of frangible ammo for the P32? I'm interested in Magsafe and RBCD ammo. For those of you who are familiar with Golden Loki's website, he fired both these rounds into ballistic gelatin through two layers of heavy denim and got good penetration plus dispersion. Here are Golden Loki's results:

I've heard all the arguments against frangibles but isn't it all about "stopping" an assault and keeping yourself alive? I'll bet that a well-placed frangible will get any perp's attention off you and onto himself long enough for you to either escape or for you to get off a couple more shots. Hey, I dunno but does anyone else remotely agree?

Hey, Carbon_15 -
That's some good stuff!

Thanks for the info.
Got any pictures?
If so, start a new topic and post 'em.

I am guessing a lot of .32 shooters would be interested in this.
:D

I have had rimlock on all the HP rounds out there. Fed hydra-shock, Fiocchi HP, cor-bon, Silvertips etc. Just when you think its ok, a particular brand will rimlock on you. I only load Fiocchi 73 gr FMJ's for this reason. Never locked on me.
