What do they do?

Maybe this is off topic for this forum (and if so, moderators please feel free to close this trend, as no offense will be taken) but I'm really curious ...

What do US Marshalls do besides guard people in witness protection programs?

Exactly what does the FBI investigate?

How do DOJ agents (and their job responsibilities) differ from FBI agents? They both work for the same department

What does the Secret Service do besides offer protection to judges and elected officials?

I'm not even going to ask about the CIA but are there any other Federal agencies whose function seems to cross boundries with any of the above named agencies?
... Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide some insight into this. Regards,

US Marshalls guard federal courthouse. Search for and apprehend those with out standing federal warrants.

The Secret Service in addition to the duties you mentioned also investigate cases of forgery.

The USMS searches for, and apprehends federal fugitives. It also has the responsibility of transporting federal prisoners and serving federal legal papers.

The Secret Service investigates counterfeit currency and Internet crimes.

The U.S. Marshalls are agents of the Federal Courts and you can make a pretty good case that they are the only legitimate Federal Law Enforcement division. They serve lots of warrants to very, very bad people.

The FBI was created to attack interstate crime. They have (ahem) overstepped those bounds a bit over the years. They probably weren't Constitutional in the first place.

Don't know what the diff is between DOJ and FBI

Secret Service also investigates some money laundering and counterfieting. I believe they are an arm of the Treasury Dept.

The ATF seems to be able to stick its nose anywhere they see fit. The Civil Rights division of the FBI seems to spread themselves out quite a bit too. The IRS is another good one that will come knocking on your door.

Too many Federal agencies to list who are armed. I'm still trying to figure out why the Environmental Protection Agency needs MP5's. "Stop spouting that industrial pollution into the sky or I'll shoot!" Shoot who?

Well back when I was young and foolish vs just foolish, I thought about trying to get a job with US Marshalls.

They can arrest FBI agents :D
They also trasport LOTS of Goblins, they have their own planes and often transport criminals from say one state to another for the states.
